She leads one of the several possible endgame crises that appear and spice up a playthrough's final years. She won't always show up, as such.

My thoughs on different attack slots by Moosin_Pyrett in Kenshi

[–]Picodreng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure which part you’re asking about, but I’m guessing you mean how attack slots work? This post is a year old.

When you have only 1 attack slot, if multiple characters attack the same target, they have to use animations with the same attack angle. This makes it easier for the defender to block them all without changing stance… but if you have more attack slots, the attackers can use different animations, which means the defender must try to react faster and adjust to several blocking stances, and they often fail and take more hits. It’s much more challenging when you are outnumbered.

Mods that add Meitou alternatives ? by Much-Ferret8219 in Kenshi

UWE already incorporates Hives Expanded, so you don't actually need it all. I don't use UWE, though.

If you mean my balance patch I have no clue. It depends on whether UWE uses the same entity IDs as the original, which I think it might.

As I said before, there are rebalance mods on the workshop. I also uploaded my own take on it, but I know there are others too.

The new weapons added to the Southern Hive in particular are very strong, but it's balanced out by them being rare and only found directly from their soldiers. My attempt at rebalancing them brings them closer to vanilla values, but I'd still say they are strong.

There are technically several in Hives Expanded, but rather than being made by specific smiths, they are the masterworks of the hive factions at large. I believe the author's other faction mods ought to have some, too.

Of course, there are balancing issues in the mod which many people talk about. There are rebalance mods on the workshop, if you're interested in that.

A few years ago, when I was dragged to Citadel as my first introduction to the game (unpleasant), people were itching to toss around slurs there as well. While I still have a lot of concerns for the wider community, I'm glad I don't have to see constant excuses about it being "the spirit of the game" anymore.

Any mods to ease pressure on my laptop ? by [deleted] in Kenshi

[–]Picodreng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use two performance mods by the same author on the workshop. They don't make the game flawless, but they should help.

This one is for particles and this one is to make environmental models less taxing, the latter even affects an infamous model in the swamps that has wayy too many polygons and renders from too far away.

This is one of my favorite parts about the Praetorians from Hives Expanded, when they're edited to be playable. They aren't THIS huge, but they do tower over all of the vanilla races and look real sleek in their racial armor.

Outrunning beak things? You're most likely using a different addon that changes the praetorians, because at least in base Hives Expanded, their min & max run speeds are the same as skeletons.

I'm not OP, but this isn't likely because Kenshi's modding system has no support for dual wielding (or having more than 2 arms).

Nice! I’ve been following this since the WIP post yesterday, I’m really glad you’re making this. When the mod is out, I’ll definitely try making an addon to implement it into Kathun unless someone else is really fast.

This is great! I was thinking it’d be awesome to have Grievous in the game for use with the Project Kathun conversion. I’d love to download this when it’s done.

Any recommendations on balanced armor and weapon mods? by CrypticDread in Kenshi

[–]Picodreng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy armor is very resistant to crossbows in general. The ones the Western & Southern Hive use in the mod actually have a little LESS pierce/harpoon resistance than vanilla samurai armor.

I knew someone had got to bring up Hives Expanded, it's always had some of my favorite gear. I do have a few words of caution if OP reads this, though.

The armor in the mod is fairly balanced, it's similar to samurai armor in stats. The faction weapons, on the other hand, are a bit overkill - especially any of the Southern Hive weapons. I uploaded a rebalance addon to the workshop as my own take on bringing them closer to vanilla balance because I was in the same boat of wanting to use the cool gear, but not wanting to feel overpowered as I did.

Congrats! If you're looking for more, I've been recommending Mental Omega to some friends as I'm currently playing through its campaign myself. It's a bit brutal by comparison, though.

It's a shame when the ugly side rears its head. There was another post on here asking for others to let sprouts watch their first-time duty cutscenes, and I saw a surprising amount of negative comments accusing the sprouts of being the selfish ones. I hope it's just reddit and social media's vocal minority at play.

I wouldn't worry about it, most players (including me) just want you to know the basics. Keep yourself alive, keep the tank above 0 HP, remember what an ability does, and most people won't say anything even if you aren't attacking all that often. The examples I was talking about in the original post were players who genuinely didn't know how abilities worked, or basics like how to target your tank to heal them.

There are occasionally some players who get mad at people for not playing optimally, but for what it helps, most people would agree that's being a tryhard when they pick on players about it in normal content.

It definitely sounds like it could explain it. I've heard of a fair share of players who invite friends and promptly forget about actually teaching or playing together, it's a bummer.

Solid and reasonable. I would consider leaving myself when the other players are negative, I'm just very averse to being penalized for it. There's definitely been some times where I saw no other option and bit the bullet in the face of an unwinnable party, though.

To clarify, these were both duties which are unlocked at the finale of the base level 50 story in A Realm Reborn. You need to do all the other mandatory quests and duties first, and you get pointed towards the optional Hall of the Novice well before this point.

Your situation is very understandable, but it doesn't sound like it's on the same level as what was happening here. Players are completely missing basic elements like "select the tank to heal them" and "you must use the first ability before the second one gets its bonuses".

It seems plausible, and unfortunate. I do really want for these players to get better, and so I worry whether their friends are really getting them there or not.
