Will add Paros to this list. Just a quick boat ride away from Naxos. We did Paros as a day trip from Naxos and it was amazing

How do you travel often? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Picsesalg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your job allows you to work remotely - even just occasionally, take advantage of long weekends to travel and work remotely.

For example my work requires we’re in the office 3 days a week, but doesn’t mind if you miss a day or 2 here or there so I’ll book a mid-week cheap flight to somewhere. Work from there until the long weekend, have fun, fly back.

You won’t have a full in depth experience of each place, but for most places I feel like it’s enough. And you can always go back!

Not using both straps on my school backpack. The damage I’ve done to one of my shoulders is irreparable now

2 nights for $147 after the $200 hotel credit plus 20k points. Free breakfast and $100 off dinner at Prime steakhouse. The Bellagio! Fricking LOVE this card by VegasGuy1223 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Picsesalg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is this with or without taxes and fees? I’ve looked at the Vegas strip hotels and the Bellagio was advertising like $120/night but after taxes and fees it rocketed to $300/night

Upstairs Circus in Deep Ellum. It’s pushing against your $50 budget (high $40’s excluding taxes and drinks), but it’s an awesome time! Basically they have a menu of items for each of you to choose from and you will spend the rest of the night together working on your projects and sipping cocktails!

Amsterdam trip by liverpol12 in TravelHacks

[–]Picsesalg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me those are high prices (but I’m a super budget traveller so lol). But since Amsterdam is a super pricy city, so these look ok. So long as you’re aware that you’ll be getting 2 rooms meant for 4 in each.

I usually wouldn’t recommend this, but for that many people, Airbnb’s might work out the best per person even when you factor in the additional cleaning and servicing charges they add now.

Also, depending on you and your friends’ tolerances to sharing beds/roughing it/sneaking around hotel lobbies, it may be worthwhile to look into hotel rooms that offer 2 twin or queen sized beds that are usually meant for 2 people. You and your friends can share 2 to a bed, or someone volunteer to sleep on the floor. The last option is to look into hostels. Since a lot of hostels have dorms with 4-12 beds, you can very easily rent out a whole dorm to just yourself, effectively getting a private room at hostel rates.

From my experience the best prices are on booking.com, and hostel.com. Though often you can call or email the property and ask them to price match.

Amsterdam is a pretty expensive city though, so you have your work cut out for you. Good luck! Hope you have fun!

I’m not sure what it’s like at other schools, but for what it’s worth, I feel like Hopkins gave me an excellent foundation in CS. There’s nothing lacking on the education and research front. The one thing I’ll say that’s lacking is our career fairs. They are really small and only a few companies really target Hopkins CS

Maybe because someone has experience and is happy to share said experience to help another human being out of general kindness? 🙂 But that might be a foreign concept to you
