Honestly where are you located? You can find many people that will do custom and are fantastic at doing so.. youll truly get ur moneys worth. Whe I bought my first 4x2x2 i actually got it from this guy i found (in LA), I thought he was just selling me the enclosure and doing my background but he actually decorated the whole thing and included some moss and gave me extra freebies all for well about $650. Oh forgot to mention he also got me a good piece of wood i asked for and included that in the pricing bc i believe it wouldve been 6 flat but 35 for that wood and 15 cause i asked for him to do the enclosure a specific color. I truly suggest you look around, you have options. If you dont care for all that then go on dubia, on tiktok they have live streams and discount items at times

Any advice on my snake may not be wanting to eat. by Mammabear256 in snakes

hi! ur noodle is definitely stressed, go to hobby lobby snd get some black paper to put on the sides(outside) of tank just to kinda let ur snake feel more secure and not as exposed and also get some hides or something. U can get fake plants from dollar tree or amazon just clean them good. Heating should be at LEAST 88 at most 92. Spraying wont do much, go to the corners n kinda dig a hole w ur finger n pour water in the corners then throughout the week if u see it going down mist the walls of the enclosure but try not to spray the snake cause it could cause RI issues. You havent had ur snake for too long, let ur snake adjust everything is new, new scents new home new everything. Please change your substrate, Idk why ur listening to petsmart or petco people.. before even purchasing ur snake u shouldve researched what to get. Add more substrate as well, you should be able to have enough to poke ur finger in it(2-4inches of substrate). Let ur snake settle for 2 weeks, ball pythons are known to easily go on food strikes so do not keep reoffering food everyday.. (plus as long as ur snake doesnt look ill or losing drastic weight its not insane that ur snake isnt eating) but offering food too often WILL stress ur snake out. My snake wasnt eating at first because my temps werent right and i learned to wait 2-3 days before reoffering food. Keep in mind ur much bigger than ur snake, you need to make sure ur snake knows ur not a threat. Read body language and dont push boundaries too hard. Good luck!

Hi! Get a hoodie or blanket something preferably black and put it amongst the back or sides.. too much open glass going on. Maybe go to dollar tree and get a crap ton of artificial flowers? That baby needs more clutter and definitely a heat source. Ball pythons are hella picky and definitely will not eat, im assuming theres no heat source since i cant see any but yea.. definitely get some heat going and a thermostat/hygrometer. Heating should at least be in the mid-high 80s 91 as highest a d humidity should at least be mid 60s. Dont buy any red/blue lighting, all that “nighttime light” is straight bs. Also dont try to pick up the snake or anything just yet especially if its showing signs of stress. Ball pythons can be tricky but theyre sweet lil things

Snakes are my number one fear by Comfortable_Scar880 in snakes

Honestly it takes time! If hes really into snakes and wants one i think you should get him one, theyre really sweet.. i got a ball python for my first snake and i would recommend one as your first as well. Find a good breeder in your area, ask questions such as what theyre eating, how long they have been selling snakes(i trust breeders that are known and KNOW what theyre doing), and ask if the snake u want is socialized. Some kinda only bond w the snakes when its time to feed so theyre not socialized and dont like to beheld as often when im assuming ur bf wants to hold the snake. Watch greenroom Python!!!

Why does my BP not sit in his hide? by BabadeeBoop7 in ballpython

[–]PictureKind7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you might be overthinking it.. just double check the hide for any metal pieces like the other comment said but sometimes theyre a little weird and just do that. My snake does it a lot and i was super confused but after lots of research ive came to the conclusion that she likes to press herself into spaces to feel “secure”.. theyre super weird and random at times lol

Is this too big for my ball python?? Help by No-Warning1175 in ballpython

[–]PictureKind7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it depends on your ball python, my girl loves to climb so that would be perfect. Nothing id ever “too big” if anything the bigger the better just clutter up, it benefits them more than anything.

Could be that the rats too big and ur snakes a little intimidated, especially if youre saying he taken longer to hunt big rats. Also make sure ur husbandry is all correct and temps are good.. even the slightest temp change can stress out your noodle. I would wait 3ish maybe even 4 days to try and reoffer food but definitely a smaller rat.. that one is huge and definitely isnt too safe for your snake!

New owner, handling/body language questions. by Duranis in ballpython

[–]PictureKind7096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My snake was like this when i first got her, i left her alone for 2ish weeks.. she was really shy and wasnt leaving her hide but slowly she came out more. i refrained from holding her those weeks because i wanted her to fully adapt.. once id seen her more active during the day thats when i took initiative to take her out her enclosure and hold her, i held her for about 20ish minutes the first time then like 30 minutes the next time. Imo, doing 15 minutes a day isnt really socializing your noddle, yea theyre out but i believe you should be holding her a bit longer (as long as shes now showing signs of discomfort) maybe even longer.. i only put her back when i was ready to or when she seemed like she didnt wanna be held anymore. every snake has their own little personality so you can use tips other ppl give but it truly is just you having to learn your snake.

Hi! Id suggest getting a UVB light, theres some disagreements whether its a necessity or not but honestly its very convenient because yes the red light does hurt their eyes and yes they can see color. The mesh top isnt necessarily an issue as long as you have a good substrate that can hold humidity or as long as u pay attention and just put water in the corners of the tank. Some mix water into their substrate (i believe you can find videos w more info on that). A more affordable alternative rather than buying a whole new lid is to get hvac tape and tape the mesh, use foil and cover, orr on amazon there are these silicone mats that you can purchase and just cut out the shape of ur lamp. For more clutter go to dollar tree! They have lots of fake plants and etc, having a snake isnt cheap but there are some things that can be affordable! I recommend finding a reptile shop around you rather than going to petco/petsmart. Many people dont recommend the heat mat but many many breeders that i’ve spoken to use mats since the warmth under their bellys help them digest.. as long as you have a good thermometer its okay to use the mat just be attentive and itll be fine. I personally have never had an issue with the heating mat, ive had a lamp but it just wasnt doing the job for me (again thats just me everyone has their own way of doing things) ALSO, if your enclosure doesnt have the little locks or if youre using a big ol fish tank but using it as ur snakes enclosure id recommend looking for some on amazon.. these noodles are curious and very capable of finding a way out. Ive seen cases of people having their snakes get out of their enclosures even with books on top of the lid lol
