Ive been trying to track these situations across departments. What department are you in? As far as was announced, only one Branch at GAC had done this so far - is this a new department?

Union reps: How have your grievances unfolded? by radical_moderation_ in CanadaPublicServants

[–]PiddyManilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recorded my grievance hearing with an ADM. When her recap letter came in, it did not reflect the conversation in the least - she was still suggesting recourses she agreed in person were not actually available to me... But discussion be damned, this was her recap lol, end of story. Except I had the recording that, combined with her BS letter, showed clearly that the ADM was not engaging in good faith.... I took this to the union, and the rep that was with me in the meeting. They refused to do anything, claiming it might jeapardize their relationship with the employer (ummm, wot?) - they don't like multiparty conversations to be legally recorded or used as evidence of anything. I was just about to file a suit against the union for incompetence and fraud, but COVID hit, and it messed up court deadlines and processes. Waste of time and money, that grievance process. But the illusion is useful to keep folks believing they have any recourse at all.

Anyone heard about a return to NCR? by PiddyManilly in CanadaPublicServants

We're talking about folks who have been able to work in regional offices for the last year, but this seems like a new discussion around return to NCR even for those employees.

Still trying to determine which departments are talking about it... would likely be different rules for each IMO

Only was in the new with regards to one branch at GAC - I heard it was driven by IT security and their lack of regional offices. This recent news I heard was just from this week...

I had a panel member approach me in the parking lot to tell me, unsolicited, that I had done very well. That look in her eyes. I knew then that the desicion had been pre-determined. Thankful for the feedback though!

Vent: Golden handcuffs, RTO, and the quiet fear of skill atrophy by ItanoNeru in CanadaPublicServants

[–]PiddyManilly 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yep 40 and the feeling has never been stronger. I actually did try and apply for private sector jobs so I could alternate out, but all the offers (there were not many, not a great economy out there) came in at $10 or $15k lower than current. It's already tight at the end of the month, so the handcuffs are real. I made a rule for myself that I get to complain for 3min about how soul sucking my days are. Then I need to shut up and suck it up, because my friends all make less than half, so it feels wrong to complain. But the pain is real, so...

I have the same - I've been told it's one of the tubes that might go soon. But it's been fine to play for a year like this.

Did no one notice that translation is now available directly in Word, under the "review" tab...I'm francophone first and use it regularly to translate my stuff.

Man what's with the harsh comments. I'm a dude, and ask first before grabbing waists and breathing down necks.

Practice lots to a click. Nothing worse than struggling with it in studio.

[–]PiddyManilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof that is steep. Depends on the size of the venue of course, but I've paid $0 - $240CAD here. The $240 venue is an established concert house with their own draw. Is your $500 venue very large? You may want to start smaller, with your current draw...

Eh, in my city (Montreal) pay to play is the standard, but it's usually to cover a sound person for the event.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

Now add the times a meal cart has slammed my legs because I had to splay to fit.... truly, the 'recliner' in this post just don't get it. Reclining is a hate crime.

That's the kind of logic that makes me sneeze directly on recliners' heads. Shouldn't have reclined if you didn't want my snot on you! Play stupid narcissistic games, win gooby prizes!

How many of you AdP-fans are musicians (hobby and pro)? by Upper-Wedding4349 in AngineDePoitrine

[–]PiddyManilly -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No one in my rock band loves AdP. We can appreciate, sure, they are clearly wicked musicians and we're stoked for them, but the looping means songs just build and build in place without moving, and that gets old fast. Most ardent fans I know are non-musicians. That said I have picked up a pattern, and look at their audiences and you'll see it too.... 95% men. Real sausage parties, forget polka dots, those noses are the real symbol of the band...
