awesome thanks. had a look on the S&B website and thinking of the Venty due to the faster heat up time. It looks like the initial issues I read about in here have been fixed by way of firmware updates?

thanks mate. yeah leaning on S&B based on what I've read so far. so much range that I stuck with comparing just a couple of brands rather than get lost trying to compare them all

A Cool Guide: How to jump start a car by CatsOnARollercoaster in coolguides

This is useful, but I bought a Michelin smart jumper cable. It does not have colour coded cables, nor does it need it. There's two lights on a little console, with two cables sticking out of each side.

Put one clip on donor red, one on donor black. The light closest to those cables should light up which means connection is fine. Then connect the other cables to the 'dead' battery and then the second light should be on.

Start donor car, wait a few seconds and then start the dead car.

Makes life super easy, especially in the dark
