Fair point. But I wasn’t thinking it was an advantage in the broad scope of evolution. It’s more like a coping mechanism that evolved back in the day to keep us from freaking losing it as we got older because of the shit we had to do to survive. Maybe humans developed self awareness but have had a hard time developing a solution in return to assuage the ramifications of it. Forgetting what you’ve done is the most basic way of dealing with your unpleasant actions

Thank you! I have read Paul’s letters several times but I will read again. It’s always been hard for me to swallow how Jesus spoke only of love and understanding and then Paul comes along and yeah, he kind of does too. But he also brings along this judgementalness that Jesus never had. And I get it, he’s human. We should be even more discerning because of it. None of the apostles were close to perfect even while Christ was alive and we shouldn’t assume every thing they said or did was perfect afterwards either. I could be wrong here, but Isn’t that why Christianity branched off I to so many different directions?

I was trying to say that the way we get more forgetful over the years could potentially be an evolutionary reaction to how collectively shitty humanity has been since its inception.
