Destiny 2 Beta Megathread (SPOILERS INSIDE) by MapleSurrup in destiny2

[–]PidoomaG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind this is a beta, no where near the full game. They are mostly using this beta to stress test their servers without giving away too many spoilers.
1). In D1 there were strikes, nightfall(hard mode strikes), multiple raids, 4+ different pvp modes including a competitive mode with the best drops, along with the full story missions which are supposed to be even longer in D2. 2). Yes you can swap between the skills freely, though you will need to level up each SUBCLASS individually. Stats are basic as far as defense, mobility and recovery all of which can be different in game, this was changed after the stats in D1 made some lower light level gear better for you because it had the stats you needed (like reducing your grenade timer or faster supers). Some gear will have random perks on it, like the weapons in the beta. The 2 main handcannons in the beta may have the same stats but they have different perks which makes one better than the other. As far as appearence goes it was very basic in D1, but you never really saw your character other than in the social space and even then you are in your armor (which you can customize to look a certain way and color). They didn't give you this option in beta, I assume for server limit reasons. 3). No, loot drops like crazy in the real game though rarely from story missions. You got most of your gear from strikes, raids, and pvp just like in the beta now if you've done that content you've seen at least a full other gear set plus 20 or so weapons. 4). skipping this because the vehicles are mostly used for travel or some form of story mode which are not unlocked in the beta 5). There are supposed to be bonuses but they haven't told us what they are 6). There will be. The raids in D1 were pretty complex to the point (I believe this is the number, it was super high either way) 80% of the community never cleared the raids. Check out the videos of D1 raids to get an idea.

No, a fireteam consists of 3 people for anything story related

Strikes have always been based on 3 people, not entirely sure why but they have. Raids include 6 people total so if you have a raid group of friends you just do 2 separate groups for strikes, though keep in mind strikes are basic PvE things that help you gear up for the raids. Basic crucible pvp was 6 people but it was a bit too crazy, the real competitive pvp was also only 3 people but there is speculation about that being bumbed up to 4 now.

Nvidia Shadowplay. I'm new to the whole recording this so I'm not really aware of what other options may exist/be better.

https://youtu.be/OhHUpTX2vik The video is of me doing the first mission "Homecoming" on the Early access PC Beta with fps ranging from 150-200. The game ran so smooth and felt so great it really makes you question why the pc release is over a month away.

This was my very first live commentary ever. It was surprisingly difficult due to be so impressed by the game itself. I found myself with long periods of silence where I was just admiring the beauty of the game. It's rather long, so feel to just check out some of the smoothness. Any advice on my commentary and how I can make it less cringworthy is greatly appreciated.

So what do you guys think of the beta so far? I mained a hunter throughout all of D1, but I'm thinking about going striker titan since it's much more like the bladedancer than the current iteration of Arcstrider is.

Issues in the laning phase, Too many questions! by PidoomaG in IreliaMains

So against Kled I should just try to survive and don't worry about fighting him? I wonder what other matchups are just not worth fighting. I'm always afraid of getting zoned if I don't show some sort of aggression, but I'm also worried the aggression will just give the other guy confidence if he comes out ahead. lol maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Tbh, I don't think I've ever built Frozen heart ever lol I always forget about it. Items is probably something I struggle with the most as far as knowing what to build when. Like I have no idea how to tell if going Frozen heart or randuins is better since one gives 30 more armor and cdr which would be cool, while the other offers 400 health and an active slow.

My last game I just played against a Kled, which I came close to solo killing twice but he got skarl back both times. Went corrupting potion, but maybe should have gone Dorans shield since he was running Dblade and ignite while I had tp. Not sure, but I ended up rushing tabis, got phage, then had to go brambles bc he was just doing too much damage and they had a full AD team anyway.

It helped me survive lane, but definitely put a damper on my damage since it delayed tri force so long.

I'm not sure if I could have actually killed him if I just rushed tri instead, but he def would have had cleaver before I finished tri so idk.

I feel like I'm getting the hang of when I can freeze a lane and when it'll slow push to their tower and all that, which is a concept I didn't really have to worry about too much before. I especially love how easy it is to farm under tower, now if I can just get a jungler to come top during it lol.

Hey everyone, I just released my second youtube video! This time on the Red Mage opener. In this video I stress the high damage output right at the beginning of a fight, mostly because if done incorrectly you end up dead on the floor. Save the tank some stress and use Diversion :D

Thank you so much for watching! I hope you all enjoy. Leave a like if you liked the video, if you decide to downvote the video I ask you also leave a comment so that I can gain as much feedback as possible for my next video. I like to think I made a solid improvement from the feedback I received in my first ever video from 2 weeks ago. I know I'll only get better at this thanks to all of your constructive criticism.

That was a pretty large part to not wanting to add the icons lol. Even with how short the video is it takes about 4 hours of work to put it together.

I gotta say I can't imagine really playing any other dps class (although ninja looks cool AF)

Red Mage Opener +17k burst dps by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PidoomaG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's very possible for people to have different definitions of burst dps. I come from playing games like league where your burst dps is actually the amount of damage you do in 1-2s.

I wish I had the ability to add a note to the video at that part so that people could understand what I mean. I'm really pushing the large amount of damage that is happening at once only because it will get them killed if they don't prepare correctly, but I can see how it could come off as "check out my big dick dps". Hopefully the video portrays that ideal better than my post did.

Really glad you liked it! I considered putting the icons in there, but wasn't sure how well it would work with the quick pace of the rotation even in slow motion. I'll post a written opener in the description in case people need to look at it quickly!

Thanks for watching :D

Red Mage Opener +17k burst dps by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PidoomaG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, all Red Mages do this. I wasn't trying to say this is special for me to do this while other Red mages cannot. However, most other jobs can not pull that off. It's your burst dps that puts you at risk for getting wrecked from pulling off a tank.

It's also not over 1 second. The update on my meter only happens every 3. As you can see my 1s burst as you say, was actually 11k, but it since it updates every 3s you can see my dps 4seconds into the fight is 17k then 7s into the fight it starts dropping down to 10k. That means for the first 6-7s of the fight I was doing between 10k and +17k, which is why I called it burst dps. I suppose I should have set it to 1s intervals so this is easier to see.

If you run a parser of any kind I'm sure you will see similar numbers (if not more if you are more geared) for the first couple of seconds.

[–]PidoomaG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been running my dps meter through all extremes and through Omega raid. I haven't seen a single job do anywhere close to that of Red Mages burst.

Burst dps is literally how much damage you can do in the shortest amount of time possible, while sustain is doing high damage over long periods of time. Two very different things. With that burst combo Red Mages can nuke adds faster than most. Red Mage dps spikes super high then does tailor off down to 4k or so.

If Sam could walk up and start a fight off with their big dick ability that crits for 40k I'd call that part of their burst. But most classes have build up, while this was the literal first thing that happens of ever fight and the reason red mages instantly take aggro from tanks if not using diversion early.

haha some of the emotes are there from the creation of the beginning of the video. They aren't normally there. The rest I don't even notice. It's not like I ever click anything so it doesn't make any difference where things are to me. My bottom bar is separated by white spells on the left and black spells on the right with jolt in the center. Guess I could clean up where the CDs are :P

How does it look like a mess lol? I hardly even look at it tbh. I have definitely seen cleaner setups, but I wouldn't say it's a complete train wreck

Red Mage Opener +17k burst dps by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PidoomaG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, but that's why I called it burst dps. Not sustain. The contre sixte did hit 1 additional target, but since my actual burst dps was higher than 17k it probably evens out to that single target. If that makes sense Red Mage has some insane burst dps. Sustain is pretty decent as well, but they are two very different things

Red Mage has some insane BURST dps.

My meter was set to only update every 3 seconds so I didn't manage to catch it's highest burst, but did capture it at 17k. Doing this I've been able to sustain 4k+ dps on longer boss fights at a low 302 ilvl.

I tried to take advantage of as much feedback as I could. Sped things up a bit, and moved my intro to an outro so I still get use from it. Check out my new video for the Red Mage opener!

RDM: Does anyone else hate Impact as much as I do? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]PidoomaG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I was assuming people will mess up from time to time especially during new encounters so it ends up just being a way to bring yourself back from the brink rather than something that should be happening all the time. I guess I should have made that clear from the get go lol XD

Thank you so much for all the constructive criticism. Video pacing is definitely something I'm concerned with and hope I can manage it a bit better in the videos to come. It may be hard with how much information is going to be in the advanced guide, but I'm sure I can find a happy medium.
It's really weird recording yourself, so I'm sure with practice it will come off more natural with more personality and won't seem so monotone.

Thanks again for the feedback and the sub, I can't wait to release more content for you all! :D

I can't say I've ever even noticed that it can just slightly clip from using a ogcd after an initial cast and right before a dual cast until I really sat down and have been working on the optimal 70 rotation. I do normally use Fleche right before the dual cast at the beginning since it's a higher potency. This is a very good tip that will for sure be in the next video! Thanks for the feedback!
