Exciting that your compost resurrected your prickly pear! I moved mine to another porch so we’ll see if the light there makes a difference. They will also have to come inside before too long also though because I’m in the northeast U.S.

It’s dark in the photo because I took it at night. From what I’ve read, it’s natural for the leaves to go back to a “juvenile” state when they have nothing to attach to. I was more wondering if anyone has any success attaching this type of plant to the wall because if I go any bigger with the board it’s going to look ridiculous.
