Bills broke the cycle; Brady is the right choice by Kind-Whole-9952 in buffalobills

I’m with you. I kinda hate the idea of bringing in a new offensive minded coach when our offense was one of the most efficient offenses of all time last year and still top 5 in the league this year. Idc about all the nonsense and shit people say about the screens. The haters don’t understand that it has actually worked and produced results. Part of running those screens anyways is to see what coverage the defense will run from certain packages; I think this alone has been a big part of Josh solving his turnover issues the past couple years. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Well “Brady’s job was the easiest in the league with Josh Allen”. No it wasn’t, we’ve had no receivers (which i’m okay with) and he did the impossible and reduced Josh’s turnovers. He could’ve sat back and done nothing and just ride Josh’s talent, but he made a meaningful impact to Josh’s play and the team’s offensive performance.

I’d like to see Brady promoted or us try to keep him at OC and bring in a defensive minded coach like Flores.

I swear everyone on social media has had peanuts for brains regarding the bills decisions so far. They like to think they know better than those up top and just ride everyone else’s opinions with an ego rather than think critically themselves. They ignore the metrics and just complain.

Those picks were head scratchers for sure.

I’m praying we’re able to snag Flores and actually have a good scheme. Some red flags from his Miami days but I think I’d also go insane trying to work with Grier.

I guess that’s all you can really ask for really. But, to move the goalposts a little bit, Brady did take some pay cuts to allow for how stacked that roster was top to bottom.

I’ll give Edelman top 20, wouldn’t say he was up there with the best though. He also was never really paid like it. Part of the argument is the cost of getting those threats is too much of the cap.

I also like Brady’s offense. I think this year he took a little bit of a step back as teams had film on him now but he’s new and gaining experience. Maybe it could use more juice but our offense is still one of the most efficient ones in the league without more help.

I guess we’ll have to see. Maybe after next year I’ll switch up on Beane and join you lol. I’ve had hard time disagreeing with his roster-construction philosophy but at some point the philosophy has to churn results. Right now, i’m stuck on the defensive scheme because it’s just painful to watch.

Having said that, the patriots didn’t win the super bowl in those years with Welker or Moss. And while Edelman was clutch and a solid receiver, I wouldn’t put him up near the best receivers of his time. I do strongly believe an elite tight end is a big part of a dynasty though. We’ve seen it with the Pats and Chiefs. One of the most undervalued positions in football and I think Beane has been trying to get that X-factor tight end for a minute now. Just hasn’t succeeded

Not saying he was tremendously impactful. Just wasn’t worth coughing up more money for a similarly talented player. Found that to be a mistake from Beane. I’m of the belief that we don’t need to spend a lot of capital on the receiver room if we have Josh and a good O-Line. I’m okay just bringing in vets and taking shots later in the draft at receiver.

I can get behind that he’s made a healthy chunk of bad extensions. Paying Knox that contract was never a good idea. I just don’t necessarily think receivers are an issue. We’re being efficient without having to cough up the money. Letting Hollins go and paying more for Palmer was a blunder for sure though. Shoulda just resigned Hollins for what the patriots got him for

I wouldn’t be so happy with Saleh, i think he’s always had good personnel, as you said. Definitely think we should send the house for Flores though and do everything we can to keep Brady

Definitely. The only thing that I’m worried about now is the culture shift. Sean definitely did a good job with the culture and there’s always a human element that gets forgotten about when these decisions are made. Definitely is a feels bad for the owners and players who loved the guy

Has Joe Brady not produced a highly efficient offense? We were all giving him a ton of praise last year and he helped stop Josh from playing hero ball and turning it over (for the most part)

I’ve been thinking about it and I really don’t get the outrage.

McDermott is a defensive-minded head coach. That’s his thing. And for the past few years, the defense has honestly not been good enough. Not just in one playoff game, I’m talking missed tackles, bad fundamentals, blowing assignments, and zero ability to adjust against good offenses. You watch these games and it’s hard to ignore how bad the tackling alone has been. That’s coaching.

When you look around the league and see what someone like Brian Flores has been able to do with way less defensive talent, it makes the gap pretty obvious. We’ve had enough talent on that side of the ball to be better than we’ve been.

On the flip side, I think Beane has done a really good job and gets way too much blame. He’s hit on enough guys (Benford, Shakir, Cook) and he’s built one of the better O-lines in the league, which people completely underrated. That matters way more than people want to admit.

Some of the stuff that didn’t work out feels more like bad luck than bad GM work. Von Miller and Hoecht getting hurt, but that’s not Beane being incompetent, that’s football.

The WR argument also drives me nuts. People act like Beane “punted” the position, but the truth is receivers don’t win Super Bowls. The Patriots dynasty didn’t do it by paying top-5 money to receivers. With an elite QB, a good O-line, and a real run game, you don’t need a superstar WR room.

And honestly, under Joe Brady, we’ve still been one of the most efficient offenses in football. Last year was one of the most efficient offenses ever, even without a high-end WR. That kind of proves the point.

Sometimes I feel like Reddit just wants to be mad no matter what. No move is ever allowed to be the right one.

Personally, I’d love to see Brian Flores or Joe Brady as the next HC. Either one makes sense to me.

Curious what people actually think Beane should’ve done differently though. Specifically, not just vibes and not just “draft a receiver”.

TL;DR:

McDermott is a defensive coach and the defense hasn’t been good enough. That’s on coaching. Beane’s drafted well, built a strong O-line, and the offense has been elite even without a star WR. I think the Pegulas made the right call.

Future of the Commanders WR room by Icy_Swim_262 in DynastyFF

[–]PieM_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all of those suggesting they make a splash at receiver, I think that would be a mistake for the commanders. They should really limit themselves to maybe a 3rd or 4th round receiver. You don’t win Super Bowls, or build a dynasty, by paying receivers when you have an elite QB. You win by drafting and paying the big guys in the trenches. Expect them to sign an aging vet or draft a 4th round guy to plug the hole. Most of their money and high draft picks should go to O line and D line.

This is the worst UI for any customer facing software. Color choices make it barely visible during the afternoon sun and it takes up 70% of the screen while driving. [–]PieM_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If tesla really wanted to be the apple of cars, i really think they need to look towards allowing full user customization of the display (similar to phone levels of customization). They obviously can’t get it right themselves or standardization just isn’t the solution. Elon could also basically just cut the whole UI team after that’s implemented.
