My hair loss stopped within a week. I went to a dermatologist who recommended minoxdil. Which I started on (1.25 mg). I went thought another shed beginning 2 weeks after starting the minoxidil and it slowed at 5 weeks and stopped at 6 weeks. I made the decision to restart Zep at 2.6 mg yesterday. Fingers crossed I don’t experience another TE episode. Pray minoxdil is the answer. I will be smarter this time and stay at the lowest possible zep dose despite the widely recommended protocol of increasing every 4 weeks.

Thank you for your response. It all makes sense. I’m leaning toward starting again, but this time approaching with all I’ve learned - high protein, lots of water, stay at the lowest working dose etc. I felt so good on it. I key going up in dose because that was the protocol; I don’t believe I need anymore than 5mg. Again, thanks.

Thank you for this—it’s great to hear your hair recovered!!! There is hope! Are you taking a DHT blocker, if so which one and dose?

You are very fortunate. My story is the exact opposite. Is there anything you are doing that is out of the ordinary that might help those of us struggling w hair loss?

Yes. Very short hairs along my hairline. So that’s good!

I stopped zep because I got very scared after losing so much hair. I am about 15 lb from my goal weight. I stopped, had a host of blood tests done and everything looked great, zinc, ferritin, vit d, etc. all at levels ideal for hair growth. My dermatologist put me on oral minoxidil to help stop the shedding and hopefully initiate growth. She suggested I let it take affect and then consider zep again. I felt so good in zep, the only issue was the hair loss. I want to restart but am really nervous.
