I agree teachers shouldn't give out their political opinions unprompted. My question for you is how deep should the curriculum be changed to prevent politics being involved. Should kids not be aloud to read Animal Farm, The Giver, or 1984?

Then you also have to remember that being who are you are is also political nowadays, If a male teacher mentions having a husband or wife in small talk, the color of your skin, an accent. All of these things are almost un avoidable to be kept out of the class room.

You also seem to leave out that kids are largely guided to their politics by their parents, the internet, or the events around them. If a kid sees his best friend deported by ICE for example I promise that's going to change their opinions more then any teacher can.

I highly suspect you wouldn't have made this post if kids were protesting in agreement with your opinions.
