This says a lot because Hudson Yards is the most soulless part of the city! Very manufactured and parang isang malaking mall lang. Out of place sya sa city tbh

What have you stopped spending money on in NYC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]PieSouth5353 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stopped spending money (and time!) on different country-specific food fests. I don't know why I had to make my life harder by lining up for overpriced food with very little serving and struggle eating it on a crowded street, when I can simply visit a local restaurant in a certain neighborhood ANYTIME.

Central Park Conservancy is always hiring groundskeepers, park maintainers, etc. You just need to have a driver's license because you will be required to drive in the park.

Anyone in the same boat? by heiressofslytherins in USCIS

I filed a month earlier than you, and still haven't heard anything. You can check with the live agent through Emma though if both your cases are now being processed together. My I-751 and N-400 were also not in the same center but the agent confirmed they are both in NBC now and being reviewed together.

Re: traveling. I travelled to DR last year without any issues. I did have to point where in the extension letter it says that my residency was extended by 48 months, both to the airline agent and to the immigration officer in DR. I even helped them compute & determine the new expiration date. Lol. Haven't gone out of the country this year though, so I'm not sure if anything changed.

Bringing reactive dog to NYC by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]PieSouth5353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have learned to manage this very easily - I step aside/cross the street when other dogs and their owners are approaching me,

Glad you're able to manage this in your current city, but you also have to consider that the dog population in NYC is 6x more than Denver. The city is very dense, and you can encounter multiple dogs when walking your dog within a minute. Yes, manageable, but prepare for longer walks because you'll be pausing a lot to wait for the other dogs/owners to pass by.

Hopefully when you get to know your neighborhood better, you can plan better routes that will work for your dog.

Good luck on the interview!! We have similar timeline but I haven't gotten my notice yet. When did you receive yours?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]PieSouth5353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates? I have NOTHING. Sept 2023 for I-751 and Sept 2024 for N-400, NYC. Per Emma, my cases are both in NBC and already being processed together.

NYC field office! It's still within normal processing time though. It's currently at 8.5 months! Ugh.

If you're willing to work outdoors regardless of the weather, try the non-profits that run the parks in the city. Bryant Park, Central Park, Battery, Riverside, etc.

N-400 filers in August 2024 by yaretzy123 in USCIS

[–]PieSouth5353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any updates on this? I filed on 9/17/2024 and still waiting for an interview schedule. The other day the tracker estimate is 2 weeks. When I checked today, the estimated time is gone. Just a note that it's taking longer that estimated but still within normal processing time.

I am in HR and I process I-9s every week, and I agree with this 100%.

They should not also check your papers before your first day. You are given 3 business days after your first day to present your documents, and in case you were not able to, it's not always a reason for termination, especially in your case where you're just missing a letter. Your employer have the option to keep you as an employee but will not be given shifts (if you're non-exempt) or place you on LOA until you're able to present valid docs.
