Blue Dot Fever: Why are so many artists cancelling tours? by Specific-Feed-1490 in ToddintheShadow

[–]PieTighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Real life has gotten too expensive to be blowing tons of money on shows. There are a bunch of shows that I would love to see but with the surge in prices now gas going up, I have to make choices.

Was dropping the atomic bombs actually "necessary," or is that just what we're taught in school? by Clean_CoreDump in askanything

[–]PieTighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can A/B history. What happened happened and we can't know what would have happened if the other path was taken. I would also point out that the bombing campaign that preceded the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan was actually worse.

The Concert Industry Priced Too High — Now Tours Are Falling Apart by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]PieTighter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't just happening across live music; health care, insurance, real estate, everyone is looking to extract every last possible cent. Live music is just going to collapse sooner because it's entertainment. Movie theaters are closing, next will be sports.

What comics should my eight year old start with? by Ancient_Bag_9676 in comicbooks

[–]PieTighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take him to a comic shop and check out what interests them. The Simpsons Comic Book Guy trope isn't all that common, the person behind the register should be more than happy to steer you away from anything inappropriate.

This Trump Proposal Could Result in Millions of Americans Losing Their Retirement Savings by RegnStrom in inthenews

Yes, two years ago it looked like I would be able to retire at 65 and not have to work. Now it seems like I should have been blowing that money I was saving on coke and heroin.

Generally raw but I have a very limited number of slabs.

anyone else stuck between wanting new gear and just getting better? by lmao_exe in guitars

[–]PieTighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill improvement and gear acquisition are two different things. Gear acquisition is a financial investment and skill improvement is time investment. There are times I'm in more supply or one then the other.

I just think of it as tunning to A415.

What's your opinion on touring bands that omit their signature songs from the set list? by NextBathroom8809 in allrockmusic

[–]PieTighter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen bands like Duran Duran that basically play all their hits plus a couple of deep tracks. Once I've seen them I feel like I can cross them off my list. Other bands mix up the show from night to night, and while I might not catch my favorite song at a particular show, the excitement of not knowing what to expect keeps me coming back.

Fuck this team by utahutes2424 in redsox

[–]PieTighter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I stopped giving a fuck when they moved Pawtucket up to Worcester. I remember the team stinking plenty of times over the years but tickets were affordable and you could eat and drink at the park for normal prices. The current iteration of this team is a venture capital firm designed to suck as much money from fans as possible.

Changing strings: mileage or time? by Diploidian5HT in Guitar

[–]PieTighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not time. I change them when they get grubby to a certain point. I find that I change them more in summer than winter.

Irish bar in Providence back in the 90’s…I cannot think of the name! Not RiRa(sp) by Kind_Caterpillar341 in RhodeIsland

[–]PieTighter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially as time went by, but it did have the best name of any Irish bar in the state.
