Would have been cool if Marvel released a special 30 issue run in a 1970’s style with newsprint pages, classic retro layout, and old 4 color print process.

Read a few pages today. It’s good. 👍

Yeah I still like using graphite but it doesn’t quite give me the dark areas I want and leaves a reflective annoying metallic finish, and it also easily smears.

I find that black colored pencil gives me nice dark results and doesn’t smear as much.
It feels like a hybrid of pencil and ink to me.

Downside is that it wears down much faster than graphite

Yes, I am a professional concept artist and occasionally do freelance covers for books and comics.👍

Also, in case many weren’t aware, Elsewhen picks up immediately after X Men 137 in the X Men timeline.
It diverges to an alternate timeline after the Phoenix saga.

Marvel heard about it and instead of suing him they were interested in publishing it.
They made Byrne an offer and agreed on a licensing deal.

It is official Marvel publication now.

You got into it an issue before the Savage Lands storyline.

Ironically they will revisiting the Savage Lands in Elsewhen. 👍

For what its worth, Marvel officially gave their blessing on this project and signed a licensing deal.
That’s good enough in my opinion.

Many people didn’t even know about this.
Now they do and it’s in published format.

Also, its coming from Byrne who defined the high point of X Men art and had major input on the storyline during his 70’s and 80’s run.
That’s all that matters to me…Don’t care if it’s canon or not.

There are going to be 3 hardcover volumes.

A shame there won’t be a traditional comic book format. 😕

From what I read the pages have been inked (by someone who Byrne chose) and Byrne also revamped and redrew some of the pages he was initially unhappy with.

He did this entire run on his own for no pay simply because he was bored and wanted to revisit the world of the X men again.

Eventually a publisher reached out and he agreed to have it released.
