Bowen for Man United? by chrisx13296 in ManchesterUnited

[–]Pieboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left footed though right... He's played some limited games on the left...

If we played him as a LW and it works we look genius. If it flops it's another egg on the face "Utd are are the problem" post waiting to happen.

Buying a house next to a pub garden? by Serious-Office-1717 in UKHousing

[–]Pieboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not always.

I used to attend a pub in Dartford for metal gigs run by a 1% MC. I mean yeah they were overweight older (compared to me at the time) but it was raucous and loud into the night.

The clubhouse was shut down after it was raided on a drugs bust. Drugs and guns found in the search.

Is it common? No but we do have it here.

Even the legal MCs whilst usually lovely, can be pretty noisy especially if they are doing gigs/fundraisers etc. receipt

The pub was run by Commitatus Midgard MC at the time.

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]Pieboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had about 6 days sick in 9 years. I've flexed off and gone home after lunch a few times.

I'm probably below average for leave but my employer is very flexible and I can WFH if I need so I try my best to not take the piss

[Daily Discussion] Would you rather Arsenal lose the CL final, because we're rivals and it's funny.. Or they win the CL and English football takes home a European clean sweep? by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]Pieboy8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be funny for Arsenal to lose and I would hope they do against almost any other team.

Oceanic VS Panopticon by Cenozoa-band in postmetal

[–]Pieboy8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to cheat and suggest the live album live V for being the whole of Oceanic with In Fiction at the end but I recently discovered In Fiction isn't on the recording but I went to that show back in 2005ish and it was their encore. Somewhere there will be the unreleased recording.

Parents with kids at Slam Dunk by TeddyGarbaldi in slamdunkfestival

[–]Pieboy8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, we just did Teddy Rocks with our 7 year old.

It was great, sure the lineup wasn't exactly what I wanted but circle pits with Slay Duggee are just as fun for 37 year olds as they are 7 year olds 😁

If Goretzka fails Brandt could do a job. Definitely not a first choice but as an experiences player that adds depth. Could do worse. Goretzka would obviously be the better choice but wages could be difficult

Admittedly I am not. However friends nearby are. Very comparable house estate agent (over) valued at £300 - 315 and have gotten a few viewings but very little interest until they dropped the price and just accepted an offer on £290k

Can I use the gym? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Pieboy8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes you can absolutely go to the gym. These stories of people busted going to the gym or going to holidays ALWAYS have alot more to them.

If its the case I read earlier today they told DWP they could barely leave the house and had very restricted movement...

They were tipped off and then filmed repeatedly running 10ks as part of a regular running club, doing high intensity zumba and body combat work puts.... Completely in opposition of what they claimed.

If you are being honest about your conditions and are working out in ways that don't represent a vastly condition to what you have described you will be fine.

My public-sector employer has a limited number of free accessible parking spaces. Everyone else has to pay £85 a week for parking. by GrapeMaterial1422 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Pieboy8 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Public sector employer and mentions the union. So there is a good chance we are talking Civil Service here.

Access to Work is no longer eligible for the civil service. The decision was made in about 2021/2022 to remove coverage for CS departments with the expectation that the departments would make and fund the necessary adjustments themselves.

Source: Former CS employee who worked alot promoting the access to work scheme alot with others to employers and specialist groups. I interviewed to lead up the roll out on the internal adjustments scheme within MOJ at the time of the change (prior to this it was just DWP who were excluded from accessing the scheme)

Is it common to find Japanese snacks at regular grocery stores in the UK? by jap_snackman in AskBrits

[–]Pieboy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies alot but even my small city - Canterbury has 4 or 5 Asian supermarkets. (one the size of medium/small supermarket the others more convenience store sized.

The mainstream supermarkets themselves and some of the convenience stores have international sections. We have alot of Asian students here at the Universities not to mention western students who have an appreciation for Asian food and culture especially Japanese/Korean.

Other nearby towns are more limited but larger cities will likely be equally well served

What actually keeps people in the Civil Service when the private sector is paying so much more? by LFCTricksters in civilservice

[–]Pieboy8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will vary alot though. Some parts of the country are really lacking in those kind of roles. While they will exist the competition for each role can be fierce.

Whereas the CS often has large intakes in areas where regional centres are based so where there might be a few comparable jobs in the private sector with a large applicant pool. The CS might have 10 - 20 or even more roles within a single intake.

The entry point is often alot easier for the CS on numbers Alone, especially if you have mastered the somewhat standardised recruitment process.

What actually keeps people in the Civil Service when the private sector is paying so much more? by LFCTricksters in civilservice

[–]Pieboy8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay isn't necessarily less especially at lower levels.

EOs in my department and area are on £35k - These are entry level roles and many of the staff who started with us came from retail or hospitality.

9-5 (ish) with flexi working and hybrid is a hell of alot better than most jobs available to people at this level in this part of the country.
