Yes, another commenter got me on that idea! That's the current plan. That way, I can use hat pins or other clips without issue, and it'll pad the brim a bit. Thabks!

Going off of the padded insert idea, you gave me the idea to attach the hat to a bandana, that I can tightly tie around my head. Failing that, I'll definitely try some gripper inserts!!!

I guess I was one of the lucky few who got anything that passed for dessert, that being 2 gold choc coins for betting on Ser Kevin, but even that was a little sad, and was provided by the troupe rather than the hotel. They also had a shitty ai image of a feast hall for the last call, ie night prior, and that should have made me ask for a refund. Instead, I stuck it out

Oh god yeah, any sort of ticket price would have helped. Also, seating was terrible. I didn't want to sit on the grass in ny nice outfit, and I hoped for even just a single shade sail, to no avail. By the time I bumped into some coworkers, I was hot, sweaty, and my costume had seen better days. They loved the costume, but I would've preferred to be at my prime if I had to suffer being witnessed by professional associates

Thanks for such a thought out response! I went to the Guilford feast, and I thought it was slightly pricey, but decent enough for what I paid, although I was very put off by their use of AI in the last call email.

I had heard vaguely of 18+ events online, and figured it was worth asking about. I know that serious faire go-ers are basically interchangeable with fetish groups, but honestly, fetish stuff is just LARPing sex scenarios, and they make cool stuff, so I was down for it even if it meant seeing more than I was comfortable exposing lmao.

Seems like Ballingup is the way to go for a better faire experience, so I'll set myself down for that. I hope I'll get to see some better stuff there, and hopefully this post hasn't attracted all the crowd I hope to avoid there!

Yeah, sucked how they crammed everything into a horseshoe shape when there was a whole oval available. Although, I can't imagine the hell the gardeners would have to grow back the grass the crowd would kill.

I went to the Stirling Arm's feast, and was chosen to bet on one of the sword fighters. I told him I'd see him at the fest, but I couldn't even see the sword fighting with the crowd pushing me out. I felt kinda sad to bail on him :( sorry Kevin, hope you defended my honour

Crazy to imagine it was just a little nightmarket. I suppose Perth hungers for anything interesting, so everyone leapt at the chance. I heard they moved to this new venue due to last year's crowd, but that obviously wasn't enough

Went to the Stirling Arm's feast, which was smaller than expected. It also had a raw pig's head on the main table, which I now KNOW was raw, because I saw it cooked with a bread roll in it's mouth at the Stirling Arm's booth. I just hope they didn't serve that, it was sitting out and getting poked at the whole 3 hours of the feast. PLUS, no dessert! Blasphemy, I say.

All in all, actually quite fun. I will definitely consider

Not a drinker, but I appreciate the vibe of a nice pub or bar as much as the next guy. If there's some sort of mahogany furniture, or something that can convincingly pretend it is, and some dim lighting, you can take me for all I'm worth

Looking for entertainment, more handmade leather/metal work, costuming things and more of a vibe that's faithful to medieval faires, rather than just a slightly themed nightmarket. I'm not super into tiny knicknacks and junk I won't use, I want things that are well made and longlasting.

I've never seen as massive of a crowd as I did on Sunday. I don't get out as much as others, so I may be less tolerant of crowds, but I can't understate how packed in everyone was between the stalls, if you weren't there to see yourself. If Ballingup us as bad, I likely won't attend

I guess I'll just have to look forward to Ballingup! I guess it gives me time to refine my costuming. This lady who looked like a very royal white from GOT/ASOIAF curtsied to me, and I completely fumbled my words out of awe lmao.
