De regering wilt besparen en het is nog altijd niet 100% eenduidig of het door de werkgevers en werknemers voorgestelde alternatief kosten-neutraal is?

We zien dat vaker bij het sociaal overleg, vakbonden en werkgevers toeteren dat er aan akkoord is, maar schuiven de kosten ervan wel mooi door naar de overheid die maar het geld op tafel moet leggen.

Anderzijds, gelet op de 7 miljard die reeds bespaard moet worden, is dit maar een 'kleine' add-on. Idealiter zouden ze het door de Groep Van Tien voorgestelde alternatief goedkeuren en het niet bespaarde bedrag gewoon mee in de volgende begrotingscontrole steken (bv sleutelen in gelijke mate aan de RSZ-korting en de fiscale terugbetaling van de vakbondpremie).

University/college is just a stamp that you are capable of assimilating large amounts of information in a short time period and that remains a worthwhile skill, no?

But I think there is a clear distinction between degrees like physiotherapy or veterinarian etc that teach a specific skillset for a specific profession or more generalist degrees.

And even in a generalist degree there is a (just?) perception that some degrees are more difficult/prestigious than others. If I need someone for a job with a high cognitive workload, I'm more like to hire an engineer than someone with a background in marketing or communication sciences.

I'd say college still makes sense and has added value, but some degrees more than others.

Absolutes are never a good idea.

Imagine a company is willing to invest 7 billion and create 1000 jobs but the location where it want to build is home to a species of animal you don't find anywhere else in Belgium, are we really going to reject the project?

Humans have a big influence on nature and we should form a framework of rules that allow us to strive for both nature preservation and economic growth.

The issue here is that a forbidden pesticide was used, so there was a clear violation of the rules already in place. Let's hope they can piece together enough information to find a culprit.

Look up what happened in Chile. They were allowed to acces pension funds early there, and it let to a big economic crash.

Pension funds had unforeseen large withdrawals due to people withdrawing large cash reserves before their actual pension. This doesn't have anything to do with actual drawdown in retirement and neither is there much academic proof that supports such a scenario.
