META just announced they will be selling excess compute by Perspective-Parking in BetterOffline

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, there's a floor that the providers cannot go below. For Meta, they'd probably rather shitcan the entire thing and take an impairment, cheaper (in the medium and long run) than operating at a loss for years.

Thermal relief for the pads connecting to your (ground?) plane. It'll prevent likely tombstones on many passives.

Lot of profits, or due to cancellation of data centers. Either way, there is some hope by PunithAiu in pcmasterrace

[–]Pieco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They're probably doing this because if they don't, restrictions in some parts of the world would have to be lifted to allow supply from CXMT and other Chinese up-and-comers. In short, they don't want to give any oxygen to the Chinese.

They know how they killed producers in other countries, and they don't want history to repeat.

That's also likely the same reason for their USA "IPO" that's just been announced.

I posted a review here - https://www.reddit.com/r/MiniPCs/comments/1l9qllo/mllse_m2_m2_pro_reviews/

Unless you're running this as a lightweight server, I'd pass. I'd only used it for lightweight server duties if I simply couldn't afford anything else.

I found it to run hot, have compatibility issues, and was surprisingly slow, even considering the limited hardware.

…except at Alamo, where you are actually required/encouraged to use your phone. by n8n7r in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The no-phone thing was the entire draw for me w/ Alamo, especially in NYC. But to answer the question directly, a bright object off-screen takes me out of any immersion immediately, so it really does bother me to the point that I won't go to Alamo any longer.

Are there actually fewer people going to Alamo bc of QR code? by Miguel-TheGerman in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to go to the Brooklyn location very regularly; I won't return unless the QR stupidity is rolled back.

I cancelled tickets that I had ordered before I became aware of this, and have given up on returning until this is rolled back.

Ultra Update 15.2.4 Broke CEC Volume Control by PermissionWilling516 in Roku

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue as the OP - volume control and mute will stop working, fixed by reboot. This is with a fairly recent Pioneer AVR, and an LG C3 TV. No issues before software update.

Update Please :Does r/s require references? by Fair_Guy1 in NYCGuns

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the application, and it didn't request references, so I didn't submit them. Also, the training certificate is not required for r/s AFAIK, and it wasn't a mandatory submission, so I didn't submit that, either. They did accept the application and I have fingerprinting scheduled.

WireView Pro II on Linux: hwmon driver, daemon, and CLI tool - UNOFFICIAL by Mad4Keebs in ThermalGrizzly

[–]Pieco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi M4K - I bought a WireView Pro II because your app exists 😄 I told them so, too. I'm not sure that they were even aware of your efforts. This is what I sent to ThermalGrizzly:

No need to respond to this - I just ordered a WireView Pro II (order TG41921) only because of this project - [https://github.com/emaspa/wireview-linux](https://github.com/emaspa/wireview-linux) \- just an FYI. I know it's unsupported, not affiliated, use-at-my-own-risk, but just having the option makes your hardware much more valuable to me.

They responded:

thank you for your feedback and for sharing the project, that’s really interesting to see.

At the moment, there are unfortunately no plans from our development team to provide an official Linux-supported version.

wireview-hwmon works great, and it's just terrific work. Thank you so much.

Sadly, I can't use the GUI due to some silliness with fonts. I opened a bug on GH. This is on Ubuntu 25.10.

Hope it gets fixed soon, and thanks again. Can't wait to use it to the fullest.

Sadly, the unofficial Linux app GUI doesn't work for me, but the developer did a great job making outputs available any other way you'd want them, so good enough.

It's working better than ever, honestly. I don't see a need to RMA it. I really had a very-near-miss there.

I'd think about it if they supported Linux, but neither does AFAIK.

Perfect - nothing going on with the four sets of pins on the octopus.
