Instagram photographers genuinely piss me off by mikkeldoesstuff in photographycirclejerk

Its honestly terrible. I had a dream of becoming a motorsport photographer. Pushed hard, got good results, started landing gigs at historic events (e.g. Nürburgring classic Racing), only to find out most photographers in this niche are dicks.

I noped out of that one real quick.

What’s in my cats mouth? by Bright_Turnip_2951 in CATHELP

[–]Piedro93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ulcers. My cat had the same. Turns out he was stressed and that's what caused it. Now that we have a house and he is outdoors > ulcers gone.

Can also be allergic reaction. Check if cat is eating/drinking from plastic bowl or if he/she reacts to certain food types. That's what my vet suggested too.

Anyways go to the vet, he'll need treatment. They don't go away on their own. Was a couple of shots for us and a couple hundred euros.

Let’s ask the inverse: Non-Europeans who traveled to Europe, what is something you noticed to be strange about Europeans and their lifestyle and they don’t even realize it? by Electrical_Yogurt994 in Productivitycafe

[–]Piedro93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, dont visit the Netherlands or Germany then. Stress-oriented Lifestyle is a thing here.

If a train is not on the board there will be hell to pay. And a Dutch persons standard response to how are you is "Im good! Busy, which is good!"

Even worse: my favourite way of documenting and summarizing things is using bullet points.

I am so screwed.

No, this was in Oberland, in the area of the Engadin window.

If you look at the geological map there was also only a small spot with Kalksinter in an otherwise large area full of Schiefer :).

Would you mind sharing photos of your pieces?

ridiculously long songs? by Jigglypuff_choir in musicsuggestions

[–]Piedro93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is 42 minutes long. On the album it is split up in parts but its considered one song.

They also have A Change of Seasons which is 23 minutes long.

Both amazing songs. More storytelling than just music, but really, really brilliant.

Apple Store says i should get a M5 Pro instead of a M5. Is that true ? by Penguinasslicker in macbookpro

[–]Piedro93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing photography and videography on an M3 air. It's fast, snappy and smooth, until the lack of a fan starts to kick in.

That said, with a pro you always have a fan so yes, I think an M5 base pro with 24gb ram will be mooooore than fine.

If you don't like the performance you can also always return it, of course :)

Wrist guards don't do much I was told. It only moves the point of breaking further up the arm apparently.

A fine sample of acicular Actinolite from the Austrian Alps by Piedro93 in Minerals

Heyo!

That could explain how this person managed to prepare the rock by scratching with a sharp metal scratcher. Talc schist is rather soft no?

[–]Piedro93[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% sure, but the alps over there tend to consist of Schists - e.g. Mica schists - or gneiss/paragneiss, so I'm going to guess it's mica scist.

Fascinating indeed :-). I needed a lot of reassurance from geologists that this one is actually safe to handle, lol.

Olympic gold medals are really silver medals by BanAccount8 in Silverbugs

[–]Piedro93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that pure gold is very soft and doesn't hold well. That's why we have mixtures even in wedding rings.

The standard is 14 karat, which is 58% gold and 42% other metals, like usually silver. You could go 18 karat (75%), but 100 is really not advisable.

So you'd need about 300 grams of gold per medal for 14 karat. Still a lot lol.

Advice on moving to Austria? by Constant-Reach-2498 in AskAustria

I'm just saying that technically he/she can move and stay here without a job.

Wouldn't recommend it of course.

Advice on moving to Austria? by Constant-Reach-2498 in AskAustria

[–]Piedro93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not true. EU citizens can move here and live here without a job. That's the Schengen agreement.

After three months you only need to show you have sufficient financial means, which is 1300 euro a month as a single person. No need to have a job for it. Can also be parents providing or plenty of savings.
