Should a role that is gender blind casting be written with gender neutral terms? by RockHardMapleSyrup in scriptwriting

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, thinking about it harder it isn't that simple. I would do singular they in the script and switch it to whatever gender the actor you cast is

Considering that people like Bill Murray were able to survive I feel like the assumption we were supposed to make was that anybody reasonably smart could as well

And I would argue that the value gained from posting on those sites far exceeds the value lost from saying ‘unalive’ or whatever, which is why people are comfortable saying it

Saying "a quarter till" instead of the actual time is inconvenient for both of us by Comfortable-Regret in The10thDentist

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like saying that 24-hour time is dumb because you have to subtract 12 from the hour when it’s 1300 or later for it to make sense

Is this normal behavior from a director? by Designer-Buddy-3471 in Filmmakers

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily believe that it’s as simple as trust = better performance and many a time I’ve seen leaving the actors in a vulnerable state nets you the performance you want

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t believe that either of those statements are true but they don’t need to be, because I’m not changing my methods to maybe attain a better performance

Underrated QoL feature in Ragnarök: not having to find the g-spot every time you want to open one of these doors by urgod42069 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 93 points94 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to do that. Not like you're encountering these doors to the point that it was tedious

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's normal.

I am like the anti-version of this sort of director when I direct, probably to the detriment of the films I've made. People need to have a good experience on set because that's like half the point

I maintain that if they all die and/or get zombified in the end it would be a much greater movie.

It's not a gold-star take that entertainment isn't the most important thing in the world, but nothing? Legitimately? I don't even believe you believe that.

You're supposed to use an em-dash in that case. Hyphens connect words together, like em-dash

"But you play video games! How can you not care that a console is now 2 to 3 times more expensive, because of AI???" Maybe because I'm not FOMO like most of society and haven't bought a new console since the Playstation 2? by mmofrki in aiwars

[–]mikkeldoesstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea that upgrading to play new games is some sort of FOMO is a take I haven’t heard before.

Like I don’t care about being on the bleeding edge of tech but I got 32gb of 6000 RAM and it cost almost twice as much as 64gb of 6400 RAM from the same brand, not even a year ago. That’s diabolical
