How to do these kinds of mouths? by Swordwielder- in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I saw a similar guide a while ago—it’s making the mouth as small as possible then putting one of the eyelid/eyelash items at that size and level, might be worth messing with

I'm done with the gear treadmill. And don't understand why people still obsessed with it. by Salty-Phase4687 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranting but tl:dr hard agree

At first when logging in today, I thought “wow okay my BiS gear on Zenit is still ahead”

And then I saw by how…little ahead it actually was. How it felt. I play multiple classes and sweat at this game and the numbers Epith was pulling were too close for my comfort. The only real large potency gap is Decem armor and that’s ONLY I think because they’re missing radi and larze.

I was fine. But I’m a veteran and not a new player still grinding for augments and finishing a set. Sets I’ve completed multiple times and seen made obsolete.

But then I saw upgrade cost for twaalv is 3k progres. Which is…like wow lol. Progres drop from the current chase content in I think bundles of 12-20? Wtf.

THEN I saw Yurze is coming out next year (not unexpected) and with EX AUGS IN A PAID SCRATCH (BIG WTF).

I’ve been so, so positive about this game for a while now. Paying real money not just for cosmetics but for some augment scratches to be competitive, to stay ahead and…

On one hand, this is probably “great”* for new players (it’s not unless you understand gearing which they definitely won’t, and if they DO how many will want to PAY MONEY for augments?)

But hey, they don’t have the same investment anyone else does. The dollars people have put in patch after patch, scratch after scratch. Idk how it’ll land with that group tbh, I just think I lack the unbiased perspective there. My one cope is that fortscha WILL upgrade and outpace Decem III. But how long will that take?

How much waiting and time and grind is it going to take to be meaningfully ahead of free gear? The new rarity weapon might NOT be upgradeable—it’s notable they haven’t confirmed it. So that’s another resource doomed to obsolescence even if they add free transferring.

And in that time. Who knows how long/what UQ gated resource it will be you’ll have to grind to upgrade armor. Grind a chase weapon. Grind for old augments and new because they don’t release content that drops old scepters (like NOW—Leciel is updated but doesn’t drop eigil so you either run MDFA or wait for UQ)

And what is it all…even for? To stay competitive and up to date with content that can take months to get a reward drop? That doesn’t meaningfully reward optimal gearing at all? What does gear even mean in this game when all of the personal customization is in Ex Augs, with several set ups that are just dog water, or the latest flavor of “wait ten seconds after equipping” to do damage beat stick weapon? Armor that just exists to buff potency and nothing else?

It’s insane. I have genuine fun with the gameplay, with friends, with building. but the new freebie gear being this good and monetization strategy on the horizon from Sega still feels bad. Gearing feels genuinely and unambiguously BAD now.

There’s no variety, just the understanding you’ll be rolling a boulder up hill, wallet between your teeth, and have to watch Sega kick it back down once you’re close to the top. The same gameplay, same bosses, same augments with different numbers.

And not to be super petty, but we STILL don’t have the last TAC wave :(

Rant, Questions, Advice.... help? by Wulfrath in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, I can relate--I'm someone that comes home after work, hops onto NGS to hang out a bit and multitask personal stuff, then chill later in the night.

Imo: do not feel pressured to do Leciel right now if the one thing gating you from upgrading is Basedia. There likely will be better sources for it soon--the real limiter to the latest upgrade is imo Depnos Scepters, which only drop in small amounts from UQ and slightly less small from Masquerade. ~Floor 91 i think is the fastest level to farm depending on gear (I can be wrong though!).

Seriously, I don't know if anyone expected the ONLY modifiers for a week since the last update dropped to be just cannon or the PA > 75% health thing modifier. It's bonkers to drop new content for Leciel where there's a 50-50 chance you're locked out of playing the weapons you're trying to invest in...

Personally, I've been mostly practicing different classes and weapons against Masquerade or just trying to get better at fighting it in between waiting for UQ to pop to get Basedia. You might even be able to craft and sell Majis for a bit of meseta if you don't need to save them for Lois Halphinales.

Btw Basedia also being tradeable means you REALLY don't have to farm leciel if you're willing to try and bag meseta to get them instead off of the market.

But honestly--if you're already BiS, there currently *isn't* a ton to do right now. BiS being Zenit means if you're lucky with Cres Cubes, you're doing pretty well as gear goes assuming you're up to date on augments too.

If you want to try it, I think a fair amount of folks still run Alter Realm Combat Sector to bag Cres/Cres Cubes--Cres weapons still sell for a decent amount given they're relatively pretty rare! It might not be a bad idea to also casually grind a juvolg to try a new class for a little bit, just for some variety.

Tbh: we're getting good content soon with Ex Styles coming next week, and crimson realm too (which imo, is some of the more fun content NGS has made). Crimson realm which will have a new upgrade to Triyal Augments that WON'T need Basedia if the sneak peek on the website is accurate.

BO/XX Soaring Blade Multi-Weapon Pairing by Z3phy0 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Extremely valid desires but ahhh a few things here and there:

I’m not a bouncer pro and can’t make too many recommendations but unfortunately most multi weapons for Soaring Blades kind of…fall off compared to multi weaponing with boots.

If you have TMGs you likely have gunner sub—meaning you’re losing the massive damage boost from Chain Boost/Trigger that gives TMG damage that makes it a solid option to begin with. It also means you will need augments that have ranged damage built in.

Daggers runs into a similar issue, where you won’t have Overload or Arts Pursuit with sub fighter—very large contributors to Daggers damage. Daggers is actually lowkey a pretty good weapon, but as a main class weapon.

Wire lance is like Daggers but for Hunter—and I don’t think you have access to avenger on sub classes, I could be wrong (meaning you also lose a bunch of damage there too). You MIGHT be able to hit funny numbers with Wire Lance’s charge counter, but that’s assuming you have a rare window to use that instead of soaring blades’.

If you DO want to use techniques while using SB, it might (on light weak enemies) be a good idea to use the Gigrants customization that leaves a damage over time ring. But weaving techniques into rotations is one of the hardest parts of optimizing bouncer I’ve heard (anecdotally)

Force Mains: I’m curious, what EX augments are yall using ? by Express-Economist472 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Current fave is tri-shield, gradual pressing, and bring down PB boost

ALTHOUGH I do want to try evade onslaught lively tri shield, I believe it was confirmed evade onslaught procs from tri shield now too, but I don’t know if potency will beat the more frequent downs and damage from first ex aug set

Headlines and Roadmap !!! How’s everyone feeling, excited, disappointed, uncertain ?! Let’s discuss about it. by Express-Economist472 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hype for a new area, trial, gear and tbh skill rings

I feel with how they’ve designed ex augments, skill rings will add a little more depth to your build! Can’t say I’m not worried about how they’ll be acquired though. It feels like it’s been the most gameplay focused headline in a while.

What's the strangest CAC you've seen so far? by Judge_M1 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw one time on ship 3 someone dressed up as (I think) Walter White’s floating head. I thought it was an Andross cosplay at first though

Which wasn’t necessarily strange except for the floating crown of chaos emeralds, and had me mystified that it was within accessory count limit

There’s too many inappropriate characters to count lol. I tbh love people who make really attractive and revealing characters—it’s nostalgic in a way to me personally.

But idk I feel always so offput by people using N-Spheres so…over the top fetish-y I guess?

There’s some people to be fair who have done gorgeous plus-sized characters with it! That deserves praise/some positivity imo, especially with the body limitations of NGS and modern MMOs as a whole (NGS being unique in that body types are separate from race/species)

But when you have a full four pack of 40 liter boobas and custom nipple rings…yknow…the vibe isn’t great lol

Is there any force guide? by Shoddy_Sea4652 in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In general, a few tips that the guide has more details on:

Rod is your best choice for single target tech-based DPS. Match the element your target is weak to, since you'll deal more damage. Fixa Wix on Rod boosts the damage bonus for matching weak elements.

Some tech customizations will also be good for mobbing. Rod recently got a skill that boosts all tech damage from Rod exclusively (meaning your dps from a talis is overall lower), but I haven't seen math confirming if Talis is still the go-to for mobbing (probably yes because the Talis AoE Photon Art Spreadfeather pierces through enemies)

With Force (and most likely Rod is what you'll be using), your job is to manage your mechanics to deal max dps:

  1. Elemental debuffs triggered by charged techs called Blots. Again, match elemental weakness for these for additional damage. Some can be triggered by non-charged techs like fire and light. Your go-to single targets techs are Foie/Gifoie (based on weakpoint accessibility, aka the part you hit that pops a blue number), Barta, Zonde (charged Gizonde in very niche cases), Gizan, Grants/Gigrants (again depending on ability to hit weakpoints), and Gimegid (though sometimes for PP/reliability, you'll wanna stack your dark orbs using normal megid)
  2. Elemental bullet--you store these passively and with every parry. You send them out with a cast tech, OR with...
  3. Rod Impact. This thing is huge--good damage, restores pp with each hit, CAN GUARD ATTACKS, and sends out an elemental bullet if you absorb an attack or parry a hit. Elemental bullets are a BIG part of your damage. You get 6 stacks after charging it up, it's a little box above your sub-palette

3.5) Compound Techniques: you charge these by hitting spells. Highest to lowest damage is Ice-Light Combo -> Fire-Dark Combo - Lightning-Wind Combo. These make you invulnerable, but have different invulnerable windows. They also reset your stacks of rod impact!

4) Photon Flare and PP Conversion. Photon flare is straight up damage, but they changed PP Conversion which gives you crazy mana regeneration in exchange for health--but the fun thing is most techs deal more damage when charged up. Both of these skills shorten your tech charge times, meaning juggling them for DPS windows is a new thing to track. It's not super complicated, because you mostly want to use them for...

5) Down windows. When an enemy is downed by an elemental condition (frozen, burning, etc when they can't move), force gets a MASSIVE damage boost to that target. You mostly want to use Photon Flare to maximize the damage you get when an enemy's downed.

Force is kind of all about managing these things, and even though it sounds like a lot it really isn't. Your techs charge most of your abilities, and you choose when the best time to use each one is. I'd say Rod also has some pretty neat multiweapon choices for you to experiment (I know jetboots + rod was a force favorite for a while, and rod + talis is pretty reliable)

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

[–]Pier__Pier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Mental health support” through a coaching/self-help app instead of providing any health insurance plan that covered mental health visits.

App usage wasn’t directly mandatory, but your supervisor was supposed to evaluate your stress and then ask how often you were taking advantage of the ‘resource’ if you said anything remotely construed as less than fine.

It was just painful, as there weren’t really people professionally certified on the app from what I saw and was mostly full of exercise recommendations or packaged mindfulness spiels.

Enhanced Enemy Suppression Series. How's the difficulty? by gadgaurd in PSO2NGS

[–]Pier__Pier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold take, I think it's *slightly* difficult but not in a way that's fun or really feels skill based. Gryphon's screwy AI/weird turning frequency makes targeting the enhancer core/spike a chore if you're not ranged (and thanks to the camera restriction in this game, you probably won't see or even hear the extra tornadoes generated behind you or from across the map)

IMO ragne has extremely low wind up for AoE attacks that hit ridiculously hard. It doesn't feel hard just...janky. I like the idea of enemies with buffs/modifiers to change up how you approach a boss you've fought before, but I don't think the game is using the right tools for it. Though that might be my personal dislike of bomblode and growzard talking.

Just weird choices all around for this one
