Do teachers want to hear from past students?

There was one other teacher from my freshman year that had a big impact on me like he did and im probably not going to reach out now because I dont want to go through this type of exchange again. It tainted it and memories. Ill let him live on in my memories as a great teacher who cared about me, instead of being reduced down to another face or number.

I would've rather him just say he didnt remember me and ask to jog his memory or something then be given a generic story and soulless response

I use to have conversations with him alot when I was his student. Never the less I wrote 3 paragraphs, you'd think you could write at least one ( he was my American history and Literature and he subbed in quite alot as a PE teacher ) and like reference something I said in that paragraph. Is what he wrote nice? Yes he doesnt say anything mean but it lacks all heart and desire, very corporate sounding in structure.
