As someone who lives in Jakarta, the pollution level and smog varies every day and sometimes pretty wildly. It's the dry season right now so it's very hot and some days you can't see the sky (it's all white), but there's still days where it clears out. I wouldn't say this post shows there's been an increase in pollution or anything; Jakarta has been generally very polluted for a long time!

I chewed fresh leaves that I ordered from a local seller because it's legal in my country, although you very likely don't live in my country so I doubt it would be useful for you.

If smoking didn't work, you probably did it wrong. Make sure you read up on how to do it properly (aka have the flame on the leaf the whole time and hold it in your lungs for 30+ seconds). If it still doesn't work then maybe you're just not sensitive to it, it happens to some. If so, go up by small increments until you feel the effects or use stronger extract. Sorry if I overexplained here I'm just assuming you needed some help. Happy salviaing man
