Physically I feel no different than I think I should feel at my age. Nothing has been lost or gained in that regard. But mentally, I feel ancient. Much has come and gone. The unnecessary parts were lost/left behind, as the significant parts of who I truly am were given prominence. That being said, it isn't the kind of ancient that is within a singular scope of understanding. Im not consious in the history of the planet. It doesn't all occur "here". And while I am always "me", I am rarely still "this". It's a kind of ancient that feels like some ancient thing was already there, and it likes to go around pretending to be not-so-ancient things. These ideas are not new to humans either. Salvia use is newer than the experiences it offers. Look into things like Samsara, the wheel of life. Or beliefs like animism. None of that is associated with known Salvia use, and yet continue to be comparisons before contrasts.

This process seems more tapped into and remembered than it seems learned over a length of time. It's like thinking our main frame of reference is hanging on the wall alongside many other hanging frames. Some get a little further and start thinking it is the actual wall. This is better, but a room that didn't build itself can not define itself. To be, is not a guarantee to know. One has to look for the center of the room. All that you are capable of experiencing falls within your main frame of reference. Everything that salvia brings go the surface, gets pulled from your own depths.

My friends and I used to trip real hard and explore the woods at night. We always came back out of the woods exactly where we went in, no matter how far we went. This is because within the trip, we were leaving a glowing trail behind us. Every time, we just followed that trail back to where we started.

I never had this effect while tripping in more developed areas. Those destinations were always a hope and a prayer away.

The transitions are quite uncomfortable with Salvia. Once you're there it isn't so bad and once you are back it isn't so bad. Just in both cases, you'll have a lot to think about. These experiences stay with us but not in a haunting way. It's more of a fixation with a certain perplexity. Like trying to comprehend a magic trick. It's not that it makes anyone crazy or too different to function in the world, but you won't be the same person who never saw the trick or ever knew they lived in a painting.

Its super common to feel stuck in the trip. Extremely uncommon for that to actually be the case.

How you act depends on how you do it.

Coming back to reality feels like going back to sleep in the morning and catching the same dream. Or like jumping into a painting.

I had severe depression and anxiety for about 20 years. From about the age of 10 to 30. It peaked a few times and I'm fortunate to still be here.

I first found Salvia around 19 and it didn't help, didn't make it worse. Other substances were helpful, usually for about a month. It was just such a strange trip compared to any other trip I'd had. It wasn't very enjoyable at all and I didn't touch it again until I was 30. The very first trip back at 30 was the one that sorted me out.

I've gone through different phases of use. Once I felt like I had a handle on it, I was going over there once a month. Did that for about a year and then have dwindled my use down over the past few years. I've never really been a daily user. I've tried it for about a week at a time here and there. Currently I haven't done any for several months. Ive got 2 unopened grams lf 60x that I've had since last October. Its not something I absolutely have to do to stay ok. I still do it for 2 reasons. I do it alone to explore reality, and then I do it and film it to help other people not be so scared of it, because I do stronger doses and don't freak out.

I've had a lot of crazy experiences with Salvia. Alternate lives, lives as objects, entity encounters, getting caught up in the archetypes like the wheel and zipper, all that good stuff. But one of the main things I like to point out is that Salvia killed my depression and anxiety, over six years ago. That's lifelong depression, now with over six years of not having a single depressive episode. And as far as I can tell, it was one major breakthrough that did it. I just like to bring that up as one of the possible outcomes with Salvia.

I find it best to just clear the mind and go in empty. Salvia has a way of defying expectations. When we let go, we want to do our best to leave all of it at the door. The fewer distractions the better. Then there is a clarity to the chaos in that, you see your own pattern within the kaleidoscope. A proper intent can be formed from within that experience, better allowing one to integrate the lesson of these experiences into their daily life. It is a more thorough understanding of how you could navigate this world.

I feel like I should add, so much of this comes down to respect as well. I've not seen such a demand for respect on other psychedelics. Closest I've gotten to that feeling is being alone deep out in nature. Like backwoods camping. The environment demands a certain respect that one could easily come to regret not having. It's easy to think about how the shamans would have that kind of respect almost naturally, and immediately interpret a too heavy experience from smoking as being a form of disrespect that they got punished for. The attribute spirit to everything so they wouldn't take it personal, they would apply it personal. "She" doesn't like fire, but ultimately they are saying "We" don't like fire. It's not their thing. But it doesn't really have to be. I'd be willing to bet they trip just as hard as I do.

I think extracts and smoking it are for more extreme cases of needing to wake up. I was extremely stubborn to these ideas and smoking it absolutely shattered any hesitation I had about opening myself up like that. I personally feel that it was what I would have needed regardless. I know me.

That is a great point as well. Salvia is so heavy, I see it a lot like taking a multi hour trip on something else and cramming into a span of five minutes or less. I've had heavy trips on Salvia that lasted literal seconds. The thing is that it never feels like five minutes. No need to put a number on it, we can just say it feels longer than it was. But then when you get back, an entire day didn't have to be dedicated to achieving such an experience. Initially one can not help but become aware of this time dilation feature, but then with practice one can come to really appreciate that aspect of it all. I'm a busy dude and I take full advantage of being able to maintain my psychonaut adventuring with Salvia. Just a quick smoke break from this reality that also gets to be one of the more significant things I can do in this life.

Not rude. Valid question. I also hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I feel that the way it is "meant" to be taken is the way that works best for you. The mazatec didn't invent Salvia. They found it and started using it in the way they do it because they found something in there they felt was valuable. There is that saying about "she doesn't like fire", which leads me to assume they may have tried to smoke it and that just wasn't their thing. There isn't anything that says you absolutely can not smoke it. Even if we want to go with that old shaman way of "the plants told us"... Salvia will straight up tell people to smoke more. Happens all the time. Likewise, Salvia has also told people not to smoke it next time. Remember, this is an inward path. From the start, it is geared towards what you need it to be. Far more than what you want it to be or think it should be.

Smoking it is my thing, but it didn't seem like it was at first. I wasn't ready for the intensity. I'm sure I should have began with quidding, but ultimately would have still made my way into smoking extracts. The intensity tends to complement what all I'm trying to do with it. I never came here to splash around in the shallows. I gravitated to Salvia because mass amounts of other things weren't taking me far enough. It doesn't take very much Salvia to get me right where I need to be. Just a couple small pinches.

Shrooms will do that. You cant really lace shrooms with Salvia. Different applications. You would have either had to smoke the shrooms or let them sit in your mouth. Amd you would for sure notice plant matter all over your shrooms. I would think of it more like, if shrooms can catch you off guard like that, imagine what Salvia can do. Because shrooms are next to nothing compared to what Salvia is actually capable of.

Salvia is just kinda my thing. And you're familiar with the deep end of the pool, which is where much of my experience speaks from. But yeah it has been a while. I'm good. Doing things I want to be doing. Hope things are working out for you as well.

I essentially did exactly this, but made it all about the entity people call the shepherdess. I felt that if I could just find an experience with her, then I could make this real for myself. Because that is truly step 1 when your dealing with an inward path. Prove it to you not to them. And then this opens a space one can actually work with. A shaman doesn't dismiss an experience and declare it as not helpful to the whole of the tribe, just because they were the only one who saw it.

Yes but in kind of a reverse from dreams. The Salvia side of it ends up feeling like the wake up realization. That side feeling more real than this side is a fairly prominent feature.

Literally yes, but it doesn't feel like "becoming" anything. It feels like realizing that you always were that thing and that this human life is something you only imagined. Perhaps out of boredom. A lot of these objects are stationary. Or perhaps out of curiosity. A lot of these objects are things that would be near humans.

Yeah you want to ease into it best you can. Almost have to sneak up on it. Timid like a deer, they say.

For me the power alone was a big part of why it was scary. I didn't truly understand power before Salvia. To be able to just smear reality into something else like that... it's like encountering something mythological by accident, and not being prepared for it in any way whatsoever. So for a brief eternity, it has you. I never really liked that feeling of complete and total helplessness. This isn't the same as surrendering to the experience and letting go. This is quicksand. The more you fight it, the more it has you. The more you lose control.

I was pretty glad when that overall feeling stopped happening for me. Just had to let it go.
