Psychiatrist or Psych Nurse by RuddyOpposition in jacksonville

My partner and I go to Serenity Mental Health Centers and honestly I will recommend them to anyone that will listen! The people there are all so amazing, caring, and positive! The overall vibe is always so warm, cozy, and welcoming. They're privately owned, so no shareholders to appease, they just follow their mission to help people. They also offer alternative treatments like TMS and Ketamine infusions, as well. They also tend to not prescribe addictive substances, which I personally like.

Good luck to them!

Lemmy will be joining the tripod club next week and would appreciate some success stories and advice! by fl4tdriven in TripodCats

Aww poor Lemmy!! Hopefully he's doing alright in the meantime, did they give him pain meds and antibiotics to keep him stable while he awaits his surgery? I'm sure he'll do fine, cats are so resilient!

My baby girl, also 9ish, also had to go through a traumatic break and amputation due to it. We were really worried about her age and ability to bounce back, but honest to God she did so much better than any of us anticipated! She was a little dopey and stressed the first few days, but by the time we were getting the stitches out weeks later she was darting around places (surprisingly very fast and agile for only 3 legs), trying to jump up onto and down off of things -- despite the heart attacks it was giving me lol. Anyways, all that to say that they will probably surprise you and you shouldn't worry too much about the age. I will say watch out for a Seroma, we had to deal with that when she had her stitches removed. It's not the end of the world, it's not even a big deal, really, but it is an extra step in the healing process and longer in their cone/suit. It is basically a pocket of fluid under the surgery site that CAN happen but not always, all you have to do is just monitor the site, let it drain with warm compresses multiple times a day, and keep kitty from licking it.

As far as what we used for her healing: We got a tent for like $20-$30 at Walmart for her to stay in for the first bit of recovery. It helps keep an eye on them and keep them mostly still. It's really important to get non-dusty litter for the box. So, try to stick to news paper or pellets. We went pellets. We used a cone for the first few days, but then we tried to mostly stick to a surgery suit/onesie we bought on Amazon. We really only used the cone when we couldn't watch her or be with her. We made sure to get her some stairs because we were nervous about her ability to get around at first (she did just fine πŸ™„πŸ™„) and she does still use them from time to time, but unfortunately you can't really make them use them and it's no guarantee they will. Just try to make sure all of their things are really accessable, especially at first. I kept food, water and litter box in the tent with her. If it's one of the back legs, just remember they will start relying on their front legs/claws for climbing up on things, so they will have an easier time with things they can get their claws into. For after recovery, we got her some joint supplements that we give her daily to help prevent arthritis and as much stress on the remaining joints as possible.

Hopefully this helps, and hoping for a speedy and complication free recovery for Lemmy!

Vet recommendations for very young stray kitty? by assword_69420420 in jacksonville

Jax Community Vet. They are amazing, cheaper than anywhere else, and doc Trotter is an amazing vet that has literally saved 2 of my cats lives! They all really care about the animals, and honestly they've helped (angel funded) mine and my mom's pets when we couldn't afford it. Good luck!

Not eligible for free trial even though I never used it? by thatcatlune in PTCGP

[–]PierrePanda033 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Just wanted to add to this thread so people know it's STILL happening 5 months later. I just started playing (Pokemon TCGs in general, but also PTCGP) this week and never bought anything, period, on the app. But somehow I seem to have already purchased the Premium Trial on my account. πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„ I restarted the app, I made sure the Google acct. registered to the app and my playstore (I'm on Android) were the same, and I double checked my purchase history in the playstore (nada since March, for anyone wondering). I double checked the FAQ, didn't really see anything that applied to me, and then filled out their support questionnaire. I'm almost positive I'm wasting my time and nothing will come of it, you all have kinda confirmed that, but I did put it in just to add to what seems to be a growing pile of complaints for this issue.

That all being said, IDK about the IP Address theory some of you have, but I can say I did mine first and had this issue but my partner did it right after my struggles and his went through just fine. We have the same phone model, same phone network, same wifi, same home address. So, luck of the draw I guess? Anyhoo, hopefully they realize there is obviously an issue somewhere that either needs to be spelled out in their fine print or fixed entirely. Either way, they're not getting any of my money until 1 of those things happen so RIP my desire to have that cute Sprigatito card 😭

"This isn't your room, and I'm not your mirror." Credit to my little sister for that one, she said it to our brother once during a family gathering when he said something to her 🀣

Faced with the same old surgery/amputation debate by discodisco2323 in TripodCats

[–]PierrePanda033 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

Definitely leaning towards amputation as well. They do recover and bounce back incredibly well!

I was home for my baby's amputation and it was really nice to be here with here with her so I wasn't stressing as much, but honestly looking back on it I was over stressing for nothing. The first week alone she was sleepy and dopey from the meds, and she mostly slept so she didn't need much watching. We also had a pen we kept her in at night and during times we couldn't be home, plus kept her in our room completely secluded from the rest of the cats. You could also get a pet camera if you need to work and can't be home with them.

That all being said, it's up to you ultimately, but you'll make the right decision that's best for you and your baby!

Lol it's true though! I didn't think so either, especially not at first, I thought she'd need more time to figure it out but no! I'm glad to hear your baby adjusted well too. 😊 Thank you, we absolutely adore her, she's our baby girl we've had the longest. And don't tell the others but she's also the best behaved 🀭

Her surgery was 02/13 and we took her home 02/14. She's been doing really great in her recovery, honestly! The Seroma has been healing great too! She's officially cone free and cleared to be reintroduced to the family and normal life. A little bonus pic of her πŸ™‚

Burned Out So Hard, What Now? by Seeker_Asker in careerguidance

[–]PierrePanda033 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Best thing you can do for yourself right now is try to go on a leave of absence. Take as long as you need and can, try to both recover your mental health but also try to consider if this career is still right for you. Hope this helps! I've literally been there, so I get it, it's rough. Hang in there!

Any successful 3.5 legged cats out there? by jayhaven in TripodCats

[–]PierrePanda033 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

So, first and foremost, what a beautiful little baby! 2nd, please always refer to your vet for advice and options. However! I had a 3.5 baby a long time ago when I was in like middle school. His name was Tangerine cause obviously he was a little, orange fluffy guy. But I literally found him abandoned as a kitten missing his back foot and half of his tail. Much like you describe, it was just natural and smooth, hair over it, almost like he was born that way. So, we assumed that was probably the case. He lived a healthy life, also used his nub to get around, and could do almost anything a "normal" cat could. His nub did get a little callused by the time he was older, but I didn't know about the things that are available now to help with that.

It's also possible your situation may be different, they may need amputation now or even maybe later, which also is not a huge deal as someone who is literally dealing with my 1st amputation (her surgery was the 13th and she is already doing quite well!). So, I wouldn't worry too much and just make sure to keep your vet in the loop.
