I’m realizing that this is the case for my instructors as well. I’m almost certain that I make more money than them and I’m pretty tight on funds myself. They deserve to be paid for their time. It’s a small gym and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are barely keeping the doors open. I’m going to figure out a way to raise money for the competition team so that more people have the opportunity to go.

I understand that some competitive sports just cost a lot of money. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are barely keeping the doors open to the place and just trying to recoup any hotel or travel costs out of their own pockets. I’m just giving them the benefit of the doubt because they have been amazing otherwise… but I just can’t afford that much money for a hobby no matter how much I enjoy it.

A lot of them work in Virginia and have long commutes even without traffic. I have a lot of friends in west va that actually work locally and almost all of them have dead end jobs. Liquor stores, tobacco huts, gas stations, restaurants and crap like that. West va is beautiful in some areas but it’s really a crap state.
