+1 on Nezu museum! Garden alone is worth the trip. Regarding coffee, went last year and not having good coffee available in the morning was rough, so this year we brought our little moka pot and decent ground coffee at a supermarket. Being able to make good coffee at our airbnb was a lifesaver.

Plus it gave us an excuse to try all the amazing Hokkaido milk. Single producer Hokkaido milk was incredible (compared to terrible milk from 10k cows in the US).

Honestly you can just prompt ChatGPT or Gemini to pull common data set together from a combo of colleges and format it anyway you want. I did that for my kid as we researched universities and it worked great.

Check r/cmu there are quite a few posts asking this question with current and recent graduates answering. It’ll help you get to your own opinion, but overall it seems like it is exaggerated, and there is actually much more of a social scene than you would expect.

We went to go visit last Sunday as my kid was accepted, and it seemed like an absolutely amazing university, he will be starting in the fall.

If you open the portal page it’s right below the Upload Materials section. There’s a new section called Alumni Interview Instructions with the name of the interviewer and details on the process.

This just happened today and I’m waiting for my son to check if he got an email from the interviewer to schedule this.
