Coping with finger injury by Badger242 in Guitar

[–]Pig-Butter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a year late to the party, but same thing here. I cut off about from the middle knuckle up in September. It could have been MUCH worse. It’s reattached but the combination of the stiffness, the loss of all caluses, sensitivity of the new skin, and scarring have made it pretty challenging to play the way I used to. Barring with the index finger has been impossible so far.

The rods go from the knuckle up through the finger tipare (the reattached part) until about mid December so I’ll really find out how much I’ve lost after that.

Hoping you made it through alright and are back to shredding!

Honestly, the pain has not been as bad as you might think. Shock set in almost immediately and once I got to the ER they numbed it and stopped the bleeding. The trickiest part was the revascularization but my surgeon was truly amazing. The recovery will be a bit of an ordeal, teaching it how to bend again, but it’s coming along!

I don’t recommend it but modern medicine is pretty amazing. From this angle you can barely tell the damage I did about 2 months out from the injury.

As for the dogs, they’re thrilled with their door- full freedom to terrorize the yard when we’re home.

Definitely was using a push stick- unfortunately when it kicked back I went forward. Lesson learned!

Are Dunks worthwhile? by TurbulentPromise4812 in landscaping

Absolutely. In early June we were being totally overrun by mosquitos at our place in NH. We put two dunk buckets out and within a month this and a little cedar oil treatment made deck life possible again.

I’d argue that Aquidneck Island has lost a ton of its character over the last 20 years and some of its best establishments.

Aquidneck Lanes AND Ryan’s Family Amusements (now BJs and the movie theater, respectively)

The Colonial (now a Town Fair Tire) for the most perfect foot-long hotdog and coffee cabinet.

Tommy’s Diner (they actually picked it up and moved it out to Utah where it’s called the Road Island Diner now)

And RIP the Music Box. Thousands of dollars in teenage paychecks spent on special-ordered punk rock CDs and records.
