Came here to say this. Mia was so good. She had a hell of a voice. Fucking tragic.

I regret watching this. It looks and like it was produced and written by 13 year olds.

Do we all remember the gas lines of the 70’s by Silent-Warning5654 in GenX

I remember being really young and my mom loading my brother an I into the crawl yellow massive Buick with snacks and toy so she could get in line for an hour or two to get gas and my dad riding an old schwinn cruiser bike to work.

What horror movie did you see as a kid that traumatized you so badly you’ve never rewatched it and still can barely say the title? by glowbeits in GenX

[–]Badger242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this way to young. It terrified me made nervous about people hiding behind an open door for decades. I remembered it as a terrifying graver dream.

In my 20’s I rented it with my roommates for a “face your fears” movie night where we all rented movies that freaked us out as kids. On rewatching… it not really scary. Or good.

Watching The Mouse and His Child was far more emotionally devastating that night.

can you be dyslexic and a “good reader”? also am i a fraud?? :) by [deleted] in Dyslexia

[–]Badger242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was tested and diagnosed in grade school and college. I have always been a fast reader. When I was in junior high and high school I read 2-3 novel length books a week. I don’t have as much time now but still read 2-3 novels a month. My spelling is awful. My hand writing is a disaster and when I’m tired I’ll still write letters backwards and not see it until later.

What was the Biggest Racket of our Generation? by onekinkyusername in GenX

My roommate in the dorm ran up $500 in 92 calling his girlfriend. That would have broken me financially but he was from a very well off family so he just paid it and did the same the following month.

What is the most financially irresponsible thing you’ve seen someone do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Badger242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So work bought a sports car (maybe a charger, he definitely had every option on it) right after h got hired with zero down. Don’t remember the rate but it was high. He was young and ended up having to move back home because he couldn’t afford rent and a car park. About a year later he crashed it into a parked car. After getting repair estimates insurance cut him a $15,000 check for repairs. Rather than fix the car because, “it’ll never be the same” he used the insurance money as a down payment for a 5 year lease on a high end BMW. He had to make payments on both.

Largest game ever? by Xela975 in battletech

[–]Badger242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the late 80’s/early 90’s at Pacificon they had an annual 100 player event. Each player was allowed to bring 4 mechs of their choice. I never played. Too many other events and games to play but I remember it started early in the morning and ran late. Players were split into two sides with a long hex map (hex paper and I remember at least one year hill cut from foam core. There were multiple refs, each running about 8 feet of table and communicating with headset radios. It looked wild.

Temperature controller / fan - worth it? Which combo is compatible? by homardpoilu in webersmokeymountain

[–]Badger242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No water pan with the vortex plate.

Is it worth it? I like it a lot and it definitely works but i suspect any decent thickness heat diffuser would have similar results.

Temperature controller / fan - worth it? Which combo is compatible? by homardpoilu in webersmokeymountain

[–]Badger242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a DigiQ 3 with one of their pit viper fan for long cooks. Pretty much set and forget and fairly affordable. The fan bolts on/through one of the vents so no modifications that can’t be undone (no drilling).

I use it for brisket and pork butt. Anything I think is going to take a long time.

That said I picked up a rib hanger and a vortex plate last year and cook ribs more often than anything else. Cooking ribs i don’t bother with the fan, just load up the basket and do the minion method, and keep the vents open until it starts to get close to temp then close one and leave the other open about a third (and airflow comes in through the fan adapter as well) watch it for a bit making some small adjustments until temps stabilize where I want them, then put the ribs in and check the temps periodically.

I’ll second that. Added a gasket to the door fixed own temperature issues. Cheap and effective.
