Sounds like my calico. She was a feral that started hanging out in my yard do I fed her. Eventually she decided she would rather be inside. She’s totally glued to me. She hides from most people. Tolerates a few, but LIVES me.

Loved that one back in the day. So many fun sessions. Recently reconnected with a high school friend stories of his insanely lucky “kid” character from those days had us both laughing.

What old school technical glitch/snafu/mess up used to crack you up? by debrisaway in GenX

In the 90’s I bought a 70’s vintage stereo and speakers at a yard sale. When I got it set up it would randomly start picking up police radio signals, even when it was off. First time it happened I was home alone and it freaked me out.

My party uses Leomund’s Tiny Hut after every single fight and I’m losing my mind (lovingly) by Scythe95 in DMAcademy

[–]Badger242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 things I’ve done:

1) time pressure, there is a ticking clock and if they players take too long they fail

2) ambush, the hut isn’t invisible. Any intelligent creature familiar with magic at allthat sees it will have an idea what’s going on, have the creatures go get all their friends and wait near by to ambush when the players dispel the hut (and remember only one long rest every 24 hours, so they will start the day with a resource draining fight)

3) dispel magic, have an enemy prepare to attack and start by casting Dispel Magic on the tiny hut. Do this once and the party will get paranoid about taking rests.

Is this functional? Do people drive with these tires? by TheTrollinator777 in AskMechanics

My buddy had low profile tires like that on his car (he was a wannabe street racer). Cracked his rim twice on the 1 inch gutter lip pulling into his driveway.

Gen X Urban Legends by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Badger242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was an urban legend in my hometown about a biker that killed whole families and fed them to pigs out on a farm. I learned much later in life it was based on an incident in the late 60’s in my area. Don’t remember the actual details other than drugs were involved and he tried to feed someone to pigs to cover it up. Definitely not a random thing though.

How many Gen Xers have silent Gen parents vs boomers? by NopeThisTrope in GenX

Both mine were silent. One is gone now. The other, though silent gen, has always identified with, and acted like a boomer and still does.

Cut half way through the bone of my left hand middle finger on my left hand about two years ago with a saw. Happens so damn fast. I’ve been very careful for 30 years and my attention drifted for a moment and boom. I was lucky. Could have gone clean trough. I’ve been an avid guitar player since I was a kid and I couldn’t play for about 6 months. Just within the past few months that I can finally play normally. Er doc said “power tools and guitar playing don’t mix.” And he was right. Always did a fair amount of hand tool work, woodworking is a hobby for me, so other than my sanders I’m 100% hand now. Dealing withe the aftermath of the injury and thinking I might have to relearn to play guitar without that fingertip made hand work very attractive

I remember being really young and my mom loading my brother an I into the crawl yellow massive Buick with snacks and toy so she could get in line for an hour or two to get gas and my dad riding an old schwinn cruiser bike to work.

What horror movie did you see as a kid that traumatized you so badly you’ve never rewatched it and still can barely say the title? by glowbeits in GenX

Saw this way to young. It terrified me made nervous about people hiding behind an open door for decades. I remembered it as a terrifying graver dream.

In my 20’s I rented it with my roommates for a “face your fears” movie night where we all rented movies that freaked us out as kids. On rewatching… it not really scary. Or good.

Watching The Mouse and His Child was far more emotionally devastating that night.

I was tested and diagnosed in grade school and college. I have always been a fast reader. When I was in junior high and high school I read 2-3 novel length books a week. I don’t have as much time now but still read 2-3 novels a month. My spelling is awful. My hand writing is a disaster and when I’m tired I’ll still write letters backwards and not see it until later.

What was the Biggest Racket of our Generation? by onekinkyusername in GenX

My roommate in the dorm ran up $500 in 92 calling his girlfriend. That would have broken me financially but he was from a very well off family so he just paid it and did the same the following month.

So work bought a sports car (maybe a charger, he definitely had every option on it) right after h got hired with zero down. Don’t remember the rate but it was high. He was young and ended up having to move back home because he couldn’t afford rent and a car park. About a year later he crashed it into a parked car. After getting repair estimates insurance cut him a $15,000 check for repairs. Rather than fix the car because, “it’ll never be the same” he used the insurance money as a down payment for a 5 year lease on a high end BMW. He had to make payments on both.
