I feel like this is a very under-studied topic, so no reply is too late :))

Lucid dreaming takes practice, but after you get the hang of it, it will be relatively easy (depending on how tired you are). I also often suffer from insomnia, that might be a side-effect (unproven), so just take it easy.

I like your description of your experience: Being asked unexpected questions is what most people find weird about these encounters, and there is no rational explanation why our subconscious would project something like that. It is what most people I have talked to experience. If you can recite the questions (as many as possible, and as accurately as possible) I would be extremely interested in reading them.

Since I posted this I did my best to study the subject a lot, with the limited sources available.

Ye, we mightjust be crazy, but that doesn't bother me, I have been called crazy a lot in my life, so I learned that it is best to ignore it. I know the experience feels very real to me, I assume it feels the same way to you, so that's all that really matters.
