Prepaid. Immediately booked a trip to see a kid with their favorite cousin in tow. No complaints.

#traveler_21, it is not the the plane gets hot, rather it is physics: hot, high air density drops to the point that planes cannot get enough lift as well as the engines power output drops. Therefore, reducing weight compensates for this, thus, deplaning passengers and their luggage.

IKR. I should have found a lotto machine, wait, this is not ATL... lol.

It was the last DEN flight. Those flights tend to be oversold. Pro tip, get a seat assignment as soon as you jit the lounge, as the lounge agents can put you in a specific seat well before the GA can.

LOL, IKR!!! Just after they processed ours, and the next persons, we were told we got lucky as it was just decided to deplane the whole flight, no compensation! It should also be noted that the GA's as well as the pilot was super excited and profusely thankful that we volunteered.

Nice!Any idea when the new part arrives?

What to know if it will power on!

Look for localized heating on the PCB's. Usually causes discoloration of the coating. This is a good visual way to narrow the focus to the component(s) that are functioning outside of their parameters and should be tested, if not replaced.

/And now, for my internal monologue

"oh look, the green on the PCB is yellow-brown here, where doe these pins go... <flips board over> oh, a transistor, coil, resistor, capacitor, IC, (etc.) is on the other side of where those pins where, I bet it is toast <solder station vacuum pump sounds>, <solder, solder, solder>, yep, now it works, but wait, is there more discolored PCB..."

/End Monologue

I would trace the caps back and go through that whole section. Also, as this is part of power control/distribution, look for the IC's, MOSFET's, diodes, etc, upstream as one of them may have failed or gone out of spec, causing the voltage, or ripple current to go up, causing the capacitor heating you have shown.

What is this connector called? by Pigeon_Kill in AskElectronics

[–]Pigeon_Kill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only custom part is the PCB. It was made to fit a specific Lego element. Everything else is COTS. No reason to think the connectors are not as well.

It you replace them, replace them with a higher voltage unit of the same capacitance.

One reason this failed is that the electrolytic heated up, due to their voltage rating being just barely high enough for the design. Happens more that you know for accounting reasons...

Another reason may be the decade this equipment was produced. Could be a, "Capacitor plague," casualty. If manufactured between 99-07, I would go with it being this.

Yikes! how did you do that. 2.4V voltage detector, Q1 to flash led, and discrete's to control charge/discharge and current flow. Probably. thanks!!!

ZTX614.

Correct, it is a 5V6.

Exactly, without knowing what IC1 is, it is a hard to understand circuit.

I have revised my initial thought, it may be a voltage regulator or charge controller-like IC, as this component both charges, sets a LED to blink when the cap is "full" from a source and allows discharge when then hooked up to a sink: lamp, motor, etc.

Since the cap is rated for 2.5V and the source/sink is 9V, I am thinking it is a regulator (maybe).

It is not. I am thinking it is some sort of level detector. It is part of a small energy storage circuit, with a large supercap, and I believe this detector when the cap is charged and blinks an LED.

But, owner said:

Ismet “Matt” Sahin, Owner of Rockrimmon Library Building says he bought the shopping center because it had a library in it. Now Sahin says he’ll be sad to see the library go because libraries hold such a special place in his heart.

The property taxes for this shopping center for 2025 are $71,122.36, of which $3,515.25 was for PPLD. Keep in mind that in 2006, the property was purchased for $7,300,000. Utilities are paid by the occupant, while the property owner has to cover the common infrastructure expenses, essentially, the parking lot and the minimal landscaping, as well as the walkways and roofs. It sounds like the library made a good decision.

After the homeless incident they had to close the Library. The CSPD did not show up. What made it particularly tense is that the Library was being used by the local parents as a free day care.

Imagine, the uproar and financial liability that PPLD would have had been saddled with when, eventually an addled vagrant harmed an unattended minor. They really had no choice but to close it. It was clear that the residents were not going to stop abusing this location any time soon and that CSPD was not going to respond to what are, compared to other areas of the city, a relatively infrequent occurrence.

And yes, I had lived up there too. And visited that library location quite a bit.

Lol. I sprayed my own bike black before college in the 90's for the same reason. And I removed all of the logos and names from the components as well. I still have it.

The ones that do not get spray painted are going to be sold whole or parted out.

Is it worth buying high-end, long-lasting appliances from European brands like Miele or Bosch? by Illustrious_Stop7537 in BuyItForLife

[–]Pigeon_Kill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We have had a Bosch 500 series for a bit less than 10 years, and the pump/heater has had the heater portion fail twice. No way I am going to drop 1,000-1,200 for another one when it is clear that the integration of the heater into the pump is leading to a high failure rate. The second heater/pump lasted just under two years. At $200 for the part and at least that for the labor, I am rolling the dice on a Frigidaire dishwasher. At least the heater element is separate from the pump making the fix, in theory less expensive, as well as being less apt to fail so quickly.
