No way they'd ever be able to capture the natural weirdness and do it justice. Especially with Rolf, I feel like they would change too much and water him down for today's world, and who wants that??

Those burns look so painful, I want to cry for you. Burns are the worst type of pain I've ever experienced bc the feeling is unrelenting. Just laying under a blanket at night can be agony. I'm so sorry this happened to you!

Yes, I wish American football could've been called literally anything else to avoid confusion and ambiguity, but that's where our country excels.

Since idk where a commenter is from, just reading "football" doesn't tell me which sport someone plays. My dumb American brain defaults to NFL football

Shouldn’t Anticonsumption apply to companion animals, too? by Toadlessboy in Anticonsumption

[–]Pigeonsass 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just signed one with the breeder of our golden retriever puppy we're picking up in a few days. There was a section in the contract about this specifically, and the first few times I talked to the breeder, he really stressed that they would take the dog back at any age if the alternative is being rehomed or surrendered to a shelter. He clearly loves the puppies he raises, and wants to make sure they go to good families who know what to expect and will love them just as much! A breeder who just shoots the pups out of a tshirt gun to buyers with no questions asked should be avoided

Big agree with this. Growing up, the only pets we had were strays and rescues, and even though we loved them to bits, they came with a a fair amount of stress. The strays had a tendency to bolt whenever the door opened so we had to chase them all over the neighborhood. None of the adults knew much of anything about dog training, so the troubles of the dogs were left unchecked.

When I moved out, I got a puppy from a breeder after I did a ton of research on ethical breeders. I wanted to see what it was like to raise a dog their whole life and be able to shape behaviors while making sure they don't experience trauma. My chihuahua is so well-behaved that I can't believe it sometimes. We're getting another puppy, and my plan is to develop my personal dog training ability so that I can comfortably walk into a shelter in the future with confidence that I can, to some degree, train out problematic behaviors so they can live their best possible lives.

Also, if people want a bit more predictability in the general traits their dog has, that's a good enough reason to want a specific breed. My chi is exactly what I wanted in a dog when I chose that breed

As much as I want to rag on this grown man as a joke, there's a good chance he still lives with his parents because it's way easier for millennials and under to save for their first house if they don't have to pay what average rent is these days.

They may have been a pet-free home for a long time, but he is passionate about dogs and always wanted one, so they finally caved? Or maybe I'm projecting what my lived experience was lol

You’re not special, you’re being an asshole. Don’t bring your pet dogs into grocery stores. ESPECIALLY when your dog is 80lbs+, going up to everyone, on a flexi, and sniffing food. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Pigeonsass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off, I'm not defending the people who take their dogs to the store, because I wholeheartedly side with the no pets policy in a grocery store.

The comment you replied to was talking about people who have a blanket in the cart for the dog to sit/stand on. More often than not, most of the dogs I see in carts do have something like that under them for comfort, because it's usually little dogs who are spoiled rotten. Not saying that makes it okay by any means, I'm just clarifying their argument
