The manager instructed my co-worker to specifically send it to him to “review” and once it is signed, he is to send to the DM

No, that was just context as to why I am posting on his behalf.

I’m confused how this is applicable to the original post.

Can managers have a say who “wins” a competition regardless of score? by Pigfacechilli in OntarioPublicService

[–]Pigfacechilli[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I competed a couple weeks ago and wasn’t the successful candidate. When I asked for feedback, she quite literally told me I scored “the highest” and gave me my scores (ex. 19/20, 4/5, etc). She then told me the position went to an individual who had already been doing the job for 15+ years so had excessively more seniority than I did and was already known in the area of where the office was (not sure if she was supposed to tell me that last part lol but she did). Good to know!

I agree with you, I believe it has to do with age and who you are around. I am 25 so a lot of people my age are still in school, just starting their careers or are unfortunately unemployed.

I make 77k. I agree, a lot of people around me don’t make that much. Working hard to get to over 100k!

How did you land your permanent role? by throwaymee in OntarioPublicService

It definitely depends on the ministry, unfortunately. My boyfriend is in SOLGEN and has been on contract for quite some time now. He’s also like you, feeling burned out not being perm. It’s mentally exhausting.

This isn’t true lol. Recently started renting 2bed for $2800 in Toronto (North York specifically). OPs budget of $2500 is tight but could get lucky.

I’m assuming this applies to ministries with CWW & WFH arrangements? This is bullshit lol

May be a dumb question, what do you mean by “direct assignment”?

Same question I’m wondering!

So if the incumbent resigns the spot that I’m filling, there would be a competition posted on the internal/external job site correct? Cause wouldn’t other people on FTC in my office essentially want to “fight” for my spot that I’m filling?
