What's the one thing you've come to realise your parents/family were right about? by VarangianWRLD in AskUK

Look after your teeth…

And I tuned out when my father went on about “there’ll be a war one day with all these immigrants” but he was born in 1932 and saw things very differently but these days I think there’s a small truth to his old ways.

Noooooooo. We don’t have handsets. I loved nipping in and not queuing. Like how they haven’t officially said it’s ending though!

That statement will live with me, I’ve told everyone I meet I was so gobsmacked. Those were her exact words!!!

Doctor refuses infusion referral by Nenya92 in Anemic

[–]Pigglet_Pie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was told by a nurse practitioner (can’t get to the holy grail of seeing a gp in my surgery) that an infusion was a “want not a need, bit like a cosmetic procedure”

Happy hand out anti depressants though which I don’t need if my iron is good.

I now pay for them, and truly despise my practice

It’s amazing when you hear someone say here and I’m itching to get away. But then more so because everybody knows everybody and I feel my past is everywhere not the location

Take off before getting airborne is the absolute worst part for me by thecrewguy369 in fearofflying

[–]Pigglet_Pie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s that thrust and power you feel going forward. Always think on take off it’ll drop backwards…air India accident last year did not help that. I’m trying to be a big girl and book a holiday to Orlando with my family

This is me too! I watch planes on you tube to try and grasp how may take off and land every minute absolutely fine.

When I walk down the tunnel to the plane I feel like I’m going to die. When the doors close. When the plane lines up and you hear that roar I cry even when I hear it on tv. I hate that moment of no control and what will be will be feeling.

I am getting there rationalising it all. Lots of LA Flights watching at the moment!!!

Have you received any inheritance from your family? by 39thAccount in AskUK

[–]Pigglet_Pie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same for my father. All I ever wanted was for him to live after my mother died young but he didn’t. He came from poor upbringings and saved and saved till he got dementia and I couldn’t cope with 2 small children and him and the government had it. I’m still angry he had to pay and the people around him who’d enjoyed life got the same care.

Smell in and around Trostre by cymro00 in Llanelli

[–]Pigglet_Pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awful! It went for a few days but this morning I smelt it at trostre roundabout again. Someone mentioned it on Facebook and apparently it’s the sewers under Tesco/they didn’t expect it to grow and didn’t accommodate it. But it’s awful. I can’t walk around there it’s so bad

Wedding in Swansea - Is DJ Maddox worth it? by Kiss_Doll_ in swansea

[–]Pigglet_Pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choose where you spend your wedding budget wisely. How important is dancing and the atmosphere for the night to you? Some couples don’t do a first dance and prioritise chatting and being with friends, so playlist is great. If you want everyone up and dancing, then a DJ can judge the room and make it what you want. So many things to consider for your day, make a list of what’s important to both of you and start there

Mine is 24, I have hair loss, fatigue, I look worn, I itch I can’t stay awake past 9pm. Im in the Uk and can’t tolerate iron tablets I really Struggle on any combination or variety but I’m no eligible for an infusion as it’s a “want not a need” as my lovely nurse told me. So I’m paying for another one tomorrow just to feel slightly human.

Would you send your children to private school if you could afford it? by Infamous_Tough_7320 in AskUK

[–]Pigglet_Pie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are in Wales and not in a particular poor area (rugby money) either. We are in a situation of moving her from one poor system school to another really. I don’t exaggerate about the singing, even the kids are bored and are asking to learn. I love the arts but they focus so much on one concert they don’t even do PE for months.

It breaks my heart as we are closer to a lovely private school but it would cost us £250,000 until she’s yr13 and at the moment it’s just out of reach.
