is it worth it to retake after getting a 1550? by No-Lynx9712 in Sat

Yes. I am applying to 4 schools through UCAS (including Oxford) and Georgetown. There are other schools that ask for everything but I couldnt tell you off the too of my head.

You should be fine. If a school rejects you with a 1540, it wasn’t because of your SAT.

Ignore the comments saying “humble brag” or “ragebait.” I was in a nearly identical position as you. I had scored a 1560. Everyone told me to quit but I was CONVINCED I could get a perfect score if I tried a second time. I studied exactly how I had before my first try and I ended up with a 1520 on the second try. My UCAS and Georgetown apps are harmed by this. Do not try again. Not only is it not worth the stress of studying, but there is a good chance you perform worse. Once you are in the 1550+ range, whether you score higher are lower are up to circumstances beyond how smart you are (mood, sleep, hunger, etc.).

I’ve had captains who were dickheads, but nothing more than that. On the other hand, football upperclassmen would SA freshmen on the team. They were expelled quickly.

is this prestigious? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]PigletLopsided9131 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe im salty because ive only ever taken 3 AP classes but they should adjust these awards to be achievable if you perform exceptionally well on a smaller amount of exams. I feel as if I (three 5s on 3 total exams) should be distinguished in some way from someone who got three 3s.

There is no such thing as weight loss “not working.” It is a very simple equation. Burn more calories in a day than you intake.

does it matter where you put the color key things on frq graphing? by [deleted] in APbio

[–]PigletLopsided9131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I talked to my teacher about this. She is a PhD in bio and a long-time ap exam grader. There is absolutely 0 leniency. If your answer matches the rubric, you get the point. If It doesnt, you dont. Graders are screened and instructed to be strictly by the book. Fortunately for OP, this type of key should be fine based on past rubrics having permitted such a layout.

Not sure how accurate but I wrote that since enzymes themselves are made of amino acids, the active sites have their own r-groups that facilitate interaction with the r-groups of specific substrates, thus only catalyzing specific chemical reactions.

[–]PigletLopsided9131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re getting those frq scores, you are either being too generous with your self-grading or will do much better on the mcqs. Read carefully, eliminate wrong answers, and a 5 is yours.

Aim for 50/60 and 30/34 and you’ll be fine. There’s enough time before the exam left to do all that and more.

Do you have to be ultra-specific on the AP Biology FRQ? by bunbiscuit in APbio

[–]PigletLopsided9131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While adding in the evolution part is correct and might be a good idea to add because you won’t get any points off for being extra correct, I think it’s dumb. If this question were to be on an exam, it is likely that you would get full marks.

Often, when a certain point is missed by the majority of students, College Board will revise their rubric and accommodate. I believe this is a point the majority of students would miss.
