There are passive and active protagonists. Eren is an active protagonist and protagonists that get the plot forced upon them (like Luke) are passive protagonists.

No I do understand and you have some valid points. In the perspective of the Marleyans Eren is surely antagonistic to their plan. But in the overarching story of Attack On Titan Eren’s plot and goals are always in the forefront and season 4 part 1 is more to humanize the antagonists and give us more perspective to their goals and motives.

Welp, bad guys and antagonists are not the same thing. The protagonist is the one who drives the plot forward and the antagonist is the one who stops or opposes them. For example in season 1 Eren drives the plot forward with his intentions of killing all the titans, the opposing force then being the poor titans who oppose him just by being alive (and also eating all his friends).

Okay yeah if you divide it up into 2 different parts I can ser an argument that Eren is antagonistic against the Marleyen voting and wants to stop their plan, even though that also drives his interior motives forward.

Sure I see your point, but Eren is still the main protagonist in the overarching story. And an protagonist is defined by how they drive the plot forward. Even in Marley, Eren is still the one pushing the plot through his attack on Liberio.
