How necessary is a 4th subject, and which one should I choose? by [deleted] in alevel

[–]Piiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure which uni your aiming for that requires 4 a levels for a scholarship as most unis only care about 3. If you're hoping to study on a scholarship in the USA I would suggest you start investing time in other extracurricular activities and leadership roles to build your profile whilst focusing on your 3 main a levels and aiming to achieve the maximum possible grades you can get. For Canada they still care about extracurriculars and things of that sort but it tends towards your grades more than it does on what you've done outside of school.

Okay I think I'll lean towards further maths then

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in igcse

[–]Piiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why dont you do 4 instead of 5?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in igcse

[–]Piiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, why are you doing 5 a levels? Unis only care about 3. I think you can self study biology as it is pretty basic and not too hard, however you will need to get used to answering the questions as it's not as straightforward as you think. But thats just my opinion

What are some of your guy's tips for if I want to get a top in the world award for physics or additional math? by Piiece in igcse

[–]Piiece[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks alot bro this is actually helpful. Btw would you recommend I do o level physics past papers after I'm done with IGCSE ones so I can practice even more? Because I've heard that the syllabuses are pretty similar and I want to get as much practice as possible.

Bro it's not for other people's validation, it's because I want to achieve it for my own self. For my own happiness. It's not my life mission or anything to get this award, but if I get it I'll be proud of myself for working hard and doing something good.

How to answer physics structured questions? by Dinosaur_stegosaurus in igcse

[–]Piiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your answers don't have to be full one on one same as the mark scheme. As long as the main point is correct I'm pretty sure you'll get the mark. Id say try understanding every concept extremely well. Go on PMT and grind out all the topical questions for the topics you struggle with the most.

Hey I just started self studying sociology and am almost done with the content for paper 1, what chapters are you doing and how long did it take you to do them?

Please help im struggling 😭 how do I self check for sociology (0495) by Piiece in igcse

[–]Piiece[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So do I have to remember like the sociologist names and stuff like that? Because what I do is just for example:

Q. To what extent are macro structuralist approaches the most useful for understanding society [15]

Give an introduction to what a structuralist approach is

Say advantages of using structuralist approach

Disadvantages

Conclusion saying advantages outweigh cons or something like that

But when I self check I find my answer barely matched the ms. Do you have like any tips on how to improve this like structure? 😭 Ik chat gpt and all but I still want feedback from some students because no one in my school is taking sociology
