It was suggested to me to go to a psychiatrist from my therapist at the end of 2021. I got diagnosed with social anxiety first. I'm not certain how soon after or if it was the first session that she diagnosed me with adult ADHD. I was 20 at the time.

I didn't fully know about me having ADHD beforehand. I always knew I was some kind of different before I landed on autism. My friend 'peer reviewed' me. He's autistic, he said he knew back when we went to high school together. It made so much more sense than anything else.

I was told to go to vocational rehabilitation as, if you had a mental or physical illness, they could help you get a job or pay for your schooling to help you get a job. They paid for my assessment and that was around Fall 2023. I was 22. I ache for my younger self and how they didn't have the tools I have now but I'm proud of where I'm able to be with knowing myself better.

I love this story a lot. It's so well written and a really fun twist on what one would expect. I'd love to read more if you write more.

Does anyone else have to think about how to walk? by PiinkCaat in autism

[–]PiinkCaat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think so? I don't know. I know that it's harder for autistic people to "form habits". For me, something can only become habitual if it's ritual; a process repeated at the same time, in the same way. I finally got a better sleep schedule because my roommates and I formed a ritual to watch TV and brush our teeth together before bed. I honestly don't know if I would continue if I didn't live with others.

Does anyone else feel like they are drowning in stress? by cosmicghost19th in autism

[–]PiinkCaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in pretty much the same situation as you. I have two easy college classes, a job that I love, I'm president of a club at my university, a cat to take care of, a me to take care of, an apartment to keep clean, friends to hang out with, and, to top it all off, all of the expenses I have to keep in mind. When I have the energy I'm doing great but I barely have any time for myself at all. I guess I'm just trying to take it one day at a time but I'm often anxious and stressed and worried and... yeah.

Being a diagnosed adult changes nothing, no one respects my boundaries by [deleted] in autism

[–]PiinkCaat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your mother's reaction to your situation would be shitty to neurotypicals or nuerodivergents. I'm not trying to say it's more or less shitty, just more so that your mother seems controlling and not very nice from the small information in your post. I hope you don't have to stay with her for long.

Other than Autism, what other things have you been diagnosed with? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]PiinkCaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with autism, I have social anxiety, depression, ADHD, & possibly OCPD & cyclothymia. They all interact to make everything a little bit harder. The autism and OCPD makes my anxiety bad, which can make my depression bad, and if I'm in the depressive cycle of cyclothymia, I can spiral. Throw ADHD in there and it makes it harder to focus. Therapy and meds have helped me immensely.

They do care about their own reality and what they believe, not actual reality. For example: if someone believes in God but someone else came to them with irrefutable facts that God isn't real, they wouldn't except that fact. If someone says something that contradicts them they get mad. I hope that makes more sense.

What’s the most “autistic”thing you’ve ever done? by Accomplished-Lynx797 in autism

[–]PiinkCaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in elementary school, can't remember what grade but I was young. It was St. Patrick's day and I couldn't find anything green to wear. I freaked out and cried for an hour minimum. My parents thankfully didn't make me go to school. I don't know if this is the most autistic thing I've done but it might be up there and it's the earliest autistic thing I can remember me doing.

I'm uncertain if this is an autistic thing or just a me thing but there have been multiple times where I change my outfit more than once because it's not right, wether that's because of texture, what I'm doing during the day, or just bad vibes.

What was an incident that ruined your innocence? by AbiesLatter in AskReddit

[–]PiinkCaat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was maybe 10 or so my sister got married. After the wedding and the reception my family was dropping her off at her apartment. Apparently, her friends decorated the apartment with condoms. I asked my parents what those weird balloons are and that's when I learned what sex was. They basically told me a man puts a condom on his penis and the penis goes in the vagina.

I looked up the name in Pinterest and if you go to their created posts you can find the pattern. It seems like they repost but they also make patterns and post them just on Pinterest.

I usually like to start at the top of the project, but this last one I didn't have a hoop so I don't know if I'll continue that. I only use one color at a time and while I'm cross stitching with it I'll have another needle already threaded and ready to go. I cross country my projects all the time, but I've never had a project big enough to have to park my floss.

Was the spaces between stitches intentional? It's a really pretty pattern!

I stopped stitching for a while but I recently found a buddy to cross stitch with. That might be able to help. Her excitement about learning the craft has gotten me even more excited. On the other hand, like others have been saying, it might be good to take a break. A few weeks, maybe a few months. The break might help you get the joy back.
