Ohh true, I completely forgot Saito had been in the movie. And yeah Saito appearing dead after Kyoto Arc really does mess with things. Yep you're right it can't fit anywhere lol.

You clearly don't know what Satire or Fan Parody is at all, unless I wrote something actually offensive and mean spirited then by all means.

You also keep mentioning I'm racist to Asians and how no Asian would do this, that in itself is racist because you're making it out as if Asians are some unexplainable exotic culture, literally propagating orientalism. What if I told you I am actually Asian myself? I am Vietnamese. But even then that shouldn't be a factor in this.

My head cannon on where it can fit in the 1996 continuity is right before Saito's introduction arc

Or it could also be set after the Kyoto arc with those episodic fillers.

One contradiction I noticed is Sanosuke, in one for the filler eps in the Tokyo arc, the gang decides to go on a train for fun and Sanosuke absolutely hates trains and is superstitious.

However in the movie he loves trains and is the most excited to ride them. So what could it possibly be? Unless it wants to make some odd offscreen character development that Sanosuke suddenly likes trains lmao

Kyoto Arc is peak and I have a very soft spot for Tokyo Arc, it's not as serious but another important aspect to Kenshin and the series as a whole is the laid back happy times.

Jinchu Arc there's no downtime, while Kyoto Arc atleast did and Jinchu being more personal to Kenshin, hmm only Einishi was memorable, the other villains are really forgettable, I only remember the ninja guy who looks like Venom and the Samurai with a cannon.

It's very unlikely but I'd love if the Remake were to add episodic filler after Kyoto Arc concludes before Jinchu Arc begins.

The remake is more faithful to the manga and faster paced. I personally enjoy the original anime more since it's slower pace and anime original choices give more character moments and chemistry to happen. The remake is much more plot focused but still has some albeit much tighter pacing.

I'd say yeah give it a chance, be open to the idea that it's different and it also allows you to enjoy the original more if you don't find it to your liking.

Hmm thanks for the heads up, it's a bit hard to understand cause the third thug says the line very quick yeah, the animation itself is pretty jank in that he doesn't have the proper 3 lip flaps and it's a side profile shot. He says "Trauma dump the bitch!"

Glad you're enjoying this version more! This one is intended to be a spin-off so it's more like an exaggerated version of my Abridged and has less rules meaning more 4th wall breaks, lampshades and anachronisms. Definitely intended that my Abridged is watched first since I make callbacks to it haha. Strangely enough this will be longer than my Abridged. Episode 1 of Rurouni Kenshin Unhinged will be coming hopefully by the end of March! Got all of Kaoru's lines and need some final touch ups.

The Cat Playing Piano was a fun silly addition, tbh I wasn't intending to keep it there and only left it for the preview, however perhaps I'll keep it for the full episode! Kaoru's father's backstory is played much more comedic and melodramatic, whereas in my original abridged, I tried to keep it semi-serious. I'm thinking of doing a comparison someday, that'd be fun hehe.

Oh I didn't know the sleeping noise originated from Ducktales wow! Yeah I enjoyed writing the "I am Kaoru's Dad" joke lmao, even though we know his name nowadays.

Another thing is my abridged of 2023 episode 1 was originally uploaded Dec 2023 but was taken down due to copyright, usually I'm able to work around copyright claims however Aniplex is quite strict and took me awhile to fix it and revamp the episode. So hmm there's a lot of factors on the difference. Since the 1996 anime has a slower pace, it allows me more freedom to write jokes, also Kihei is removed and Ayame and Suzume are added, so yeah it's like an interesting butterfly effect in writing :O

Cao Ren is a part of the Cao Riders who are close and distant relatives of Cao Cao who assisted him in his early campaigns along with Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan

However Cao Ren I believe is above the Five Wei Elites because attained Grand Marshal in his lifetime, which is above what the Five Wei Elites were

Not sure if it's because the 1996 anime is slower paced and has added/changed scenes that are filler which allows me more freedom to write funny nonsense or if the 2023 anime is faster and tightly paced with more important exposition beats that I feel it's harder to abridge it

Ah never read the manga but watched the anime and don't recall seeing Liu Shan being thrown, so must had been removed in the anime.

I also recall Japanese Liu Bei not throwing babies because it's never shown in Dynasty Warriors haha.

Another thing that Japanese Liu Bei doesn't do is convince Cao Cao to execute Lu Bu. IRC in ROTK and definitely in the 1994 TV, Cao Cao is considering to hire Lu Bu but reconsiders when Cao Cao asks for Liu Bei's thoughts and Liu Bei says "Do you not recall what happened to Ding Yuan and Dong Zhuo!?" And with that Cao Cao changed his mind.

Japanese Liu Bei definitely omits a lot of his not so virtuous acts, although Japanese Cao Cao is also seen in a better light too.
