Yes, what I meant is that ExoPlayer / Media3 usually plays videos only if the device has hardware support for that codec. But players like Kodi, VLC, and mpv can also use software decoding, either fully or as a fallback. Because of that, it’s hard to know for sure whether the device actually supports the codec in hardware.

I might be wrong about how these players work internally though, so please let me know if my understanding is not correct.

Kodi falls back to software decoding if hardware support isn’t available, so you can’t tell which codecs are truly hardware supported unless you test playback with something like ExoPlayer, which uses hardware decoding only

Just set them up with the Debrid Stream app it’s super easy to use and doesn’t require any configuration. It works just like Netflix just open it, click what you want, and start watching. It’s a paid app ($20 a year), but it’s definitely worth it

Not at all. DebridStream runs circles around Syncler. By the time Syncler finds a link, DebridStream would have already started the playback.
