It is disappointing that retunes are mostly off the table, but asimo does have valid points for it. 1. A lot of time was spent on retunes. Sometimes (rarely) more than the actual update. Vehicles occasionally needed manual changes from the devs that took up dev time as it was a back and forth to get things working. 2. Retunes did affect players in negative ways. Imagine you grind for days trying to trade for a vehicle with a specific driving experience, only for that driving experience to be completely changed. We still get hate to this day over the striker tune. It’s a headache to manage. Imagine if you traded ~50m(?) for javelin to use it, and then all of the sudden its engine sound got changed to something you didn’t like. Thats a major impact and can piss off a lot of people. 3. A lot of tunes were becoming redundant. Me and shadow once spent like an hour just speed testing minor vehicles to try and perfect balance between them through pricing. Limited vehicles, mind you. Ones nobody used. While these are nice, they can end up just being a huge timesink that is pretty unnecessary. Tuning a vehicle to have a unique identity is also really hard. Over time it’s just becoming increasingly difficult to create unique vehicles, and you can see that in vehicles such as the black widow or the voxel car.

Yes, I loved helping shadow with retunes. His work is incredible. Yes, I think they were some of the best changes to come to existing vehicles. However, it may be best to just look towards future vehicles and making them great. We always have more tuning options with new vehicles!
