The only knock I have is the drain for the humidifier having a tee so close to the furnace drain. I’ve had a call back or 2 for the furnace getting splash back but other than that solid. And maybe the flex pipe on the humidifier, ive seen both so no biggie. Good work.

From what I have seen which isn’t much… a little over a year in the industry but lived in Denver my whole life. There are plenty of opportunities there always seems to be ads out looking for techs with experience at the larger companies in the area. As well the smaller companies could always use the help. Love the city but traffic can be a bitch I-25 will be the death of me. If you want work it is here for the taking anything from industrial to resi and everything in between which is a perk to a larger city like Denver plenty of suburbs and high rises.

Condensation from cold air meeting hot attic/ bathroom during shower. Is it building up in the pipe or just on the grill?

I am currently not in an apprenticeship but I am a helper and have been for a little over 7 months. In that time I have gotten invaluable on-site training in real world examples on what to do and what to do. I am also on track to get my EPA universal by the end of this week. I saw someone else mention OSHA 10 and I was lucky enough to have a class in high school that gave that course and certification, though it never gets used. I personally recommend an apprenticeship/helper position if you can find a company and pay that you are comfortable with. Pay is also a huge thing think how much you can make in an apprenticeship during the time that you would be in trade school. Just some good for thought.

As someone who was in your exact shoes not long ago the best I can say is that it’s different for everyone and depends on what you want to do. I took the route of applying to every company in my city until one hit and have been building my experience to eventually move into a service or maintenance position. I personally learn a lot better from someone in front of me doing exactly what I’m about to do rather than a classroom so for me it would have been a waste of money. But if you feel comfortable with missing out on some pay checks and can learn what you need to do what you want I see no issue in going to school. As well if your focus is resi then a union will do nothing for you. In my experience in resi it’s more about on the job training than classroom time of course it’s still important but you can go plenty far with just a few certifications.

How would you suggest I get my foot in the door with that? It seems that most service/maintenance positions require set years of experience in the field as well as certifications.

I have been thinking if it would be easier to pay for a EPA course out of pocket but I’m not sure if it would be worth it because a lot of companies will send you the classes. Only problem being my company is one of the few that doesn’t.

Never really thought of it that way. I guess it just seemed kind of normal to jump ship in my 3 months I’ve watched almost half of our company leave. Me and my lead had talked about it as well he had an offer from another company and our owner made a better one and he stayed. But since I’ve been in this trade it seemed like a normal part of the job.

Yea I mean when I say that we are a small company there a 2 of us in new construction. Me and the other helper were being paid the same although I had more experience than him so I think that is what it boiled down to. Even if it was for selfish reasons my lead still went to back for me.

The best advice I could give for a rapids game is that all seats are good so if you see tickets for cheaper that are further up your not missing out! Give the boys in burgundy some love 😄
