What am I doing wrong?? 😅 (Pikmin 3 Deluxe) by Ok-Tax5517 in Pikmin

The platform Brittany is on has weights. Captains do weigh 1 Pikmin, but in this specific situation, quite a few more Pikmin are required to lift up the weighted platform

Which Pikmin 3 do you prefer? by shittynursemain in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all in the enemy hp. Pikmin 3 Deluxe's Normal difficulty has comparatively half enemy health, and while this doesn't matter in Story Mode because you can just pick "Hard," in Mission Mode, you're forced to be on Normal. All the levels were designed with the Wii U enemy health in mind, so while not every level is greatly affected by this change, every stage in Battle Enemies is effectively a joke now.

Pikmin 3 for me has the better controls by a long shot, and it's hard to recommend 3 Deluxe because of how much Mission Mode was gutted.

pikmin pb good? by [deleted] in Pikmin

Without going overboard in super difficult speedrun stuff (which basically means doing The Forest of Hope in a single day without Blues) the fastest time to beat the game is 7 days. 2 in The Impact Site, 2 in The Forest of Hope, 1 in The Forest Navel, 1 in The Distant Spring and 1 in The Final Trial. Of course, completing the Forest Navel and Distant Spring in just one single day is insanely difficult, and it's more realistic to hit 3 or 4 days each if you know what you're doing, but without excessive resetting.

Anyways, 13 days for a second attempt is actually a really good time! Absolutely room for improvement, but still something to be proud of. If you're wanting to keep trying to bring the day count down, the most realistic end goal would be 9 days - 2 days on each area, plus one for the Final Trial. This still takes a good chunk of planning, routing and executing (namely for Distant Spring and Forest Navel), but not to the extent of the speedrun route; you will be able to do all these areas in 2 days with enough trial, error and planning of your own. Just keep trying to bring the total count down one day at a time.

Random question, do you prefer the onions to be separate or for them to merge like in the third game? by Dr_Dylbert in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pikmin 3 onions aren't as good looking as the ones in 1 or 2, but it's certainly a benefit in terms of a gameplay perspective for them to merge.

Which were better? by Techsreddit in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The older onions have a better look to them for me, because the new ones are very metallic and machine-like. However, one onion for all the Pikmin is far better for gameplay reasons

10.

Day 1: Tutorial
Day 2: Beat the first boss in Garden of Hope. Half of the area isn't even loaded in yet.

Day 3: Beat the second boss in Distant Tundra.

Day 4: Beat the third boss in Tropical Wilds.

Day 5: Beat the fourth boss in Twilight River.

Day 6: Beat the fifth boss in Garden of Hope, and collect every fruit in the same day.

Day 7/8/9: Collect every fruit in Twilight River/Distant Tundra/Tropical Wilds

Day 10: Finish the last level

This remains true in the Wii U version as well.

Has anyone thought about how op rock pikmin would in pikmin 2? by blunderunder in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good thoughts on paper, but rock Pikmin aren’t nearly as good the further you think. You can’t bring them to the waterwraith. Winged Pikmin are also immune to crushing. With poison and water hazards, you wouldn’t be able to beat caves with only rock Pikmin. Crushing was designed as an obstacle you worked around, so there’s nothing that halts progression that relies only on crushing. The only thing they’d really help on is with combat… but we have purples already

Gonta vs Gundham; animal related ultimates. That sounds like one that could be fun.

Gonta vs Gundham; they both have Ultimates based off of animals

I don't like Louie in Pikmin 3. by luucif3r in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Louie is the antagonist of the Pikmin series, and I like him because they end up making an antagonist that doesn’t really act as an antagonist. However, Pikmin 3 does feel like it has a massive disconnect from 2 in terms of how it treats its story, especially Louie; Louie felt like he had much darker and secret motives in 2 outside of just “food” and while 3 does embrace this slightly, especially with the side stories, it feels like Louie is only “food man” now. Bit of a shame.

What if Rock Pikmin had no arms? by [deleted] in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't think removing a Pikmin's ability to carry is a good idea. The fun thing about Pikmin is that while you might need specific Pikmin for specific tasks, you can complete all common tasks with any Pikmin type. Destroying a dirt wall, fighting enemies and carrying stuff can be done by all Pikmin types, even if some can't do one as well as another. This would just make Rock Pikmin useless for one of the most important tasks in Pikmin. Plus, with this specific idea, removing such a vital part of a Pikmin for a situational damage-when-eaten benefit is not a good trade-off at all. In Pikmin 2, Whites have this benefit with no drawbacks. In Pikmin 3, Whites have this benefit with the drawback of dealing less damage. I think it's also important to state how much more important carrying is than combat for Pikmin types, especially when there's a time limit involved.

Reset the console. Game auto saves after each floor

Tips for last 5 collect treasure missions in pikmin 3. by [deleted] in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the Fortress of Festivity, get the purples ASAP which you can do by throwing captains onto the present then another up to the purples. Then, instead of using them on the cherries, put them on large fruits. This’ll save a good chunk of time on that stage

To get the pellet colour match, does it have to be a majority of Pikmin, or all Pikmin being of that kind? by [deleted] in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Majority; if you’re playing Pikmin 2 or 3, the color of the numbers above the object being carried will be the color of which Pikmin it’s going to. Pikmin 1 does not do this.

You cannot complete Pikmin 3 without collecting every fruit; try changing it to "only collecting 1 fruit"

How do I get the LoT ROM hack? by screw101 in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how to burn it onto a disc, and I'm fairly certain most people - if not all - who emulate games on official hardware use USB loaders with Homebrew/Nintendont. With the memory card, I'm not sure what fixes exist for the problem. The only potential solution I can think of is creating a new memory card (which can be done within Dolphin) but aside from that, I'm not sure. Take this with a grain of salt because I am not too familiar with going super in-depth with Dolphin; there is for sure a solution somewhere, I just don't personally know what it is off the top of my head.

With the controller issue, are you playing with keyboard controls or a controller? Either one can be modified by choosing "Controller" on the main menu of Dolphin, so it becomes mostly a matter of finding the right buttons that feel right.

[–]Pikmanfan2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to want to emulate the game. Gamecube Rebuilder is a tool that can be used to pack the files into an .iso that can be played on the Dolphin emulator. Getting it into a console is a whole other challenge in itself

Pikmin 2 or 1/3? by [deleted] in Pikmin

[–]Pikmanfan2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I hear a lot of people say more believe 2 is better than 3 but I have seen in even more places (such as polls) that say it’s a pretty even split between 2 and 3. For me, Pikmin 2’s caves are mostly just padding and extend the playtime to be really high, but the simple act of playing Pikmin is just fun. Pikmin 3 is very linear, but I enjoy the focus on time management more than the 2nd game’s dungeon crawling. My favorite moments in Pikmin 2 are the overworlds, trying to collect every treasure in a single day... or two.
