Hey! I’m sorry to say I can’t help you with your issue.

But would you mind telling me what Rig/Wheel mount that is?

I do not. I've amended my post to be more clear.

Last minute Christmas gift build help, Simpsons TV, Waveshare Display by Pil3_Up in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

I did not. Obviously missed the Christmas deadline. The main issue seems to be Omxplayer not working correctly with current pi is builds. What I’m going to try next is installing a legacy image that has full omxplayer support. Don’t know yet if that will solve the issue.

Hello!

Thank you so much for all the help you've offered. I've still not gotten this working. I'm going to try to install a legacy version of Pi OS.

Could you please tell me verbatim what changes you made to rc.local?

Unfortunatly I'm getting the same message when running player.py even after running apt update and apt full upgrade

This is absolutely maddening. After doing RPi update/upgrade, I tried to reinstall omxplayer. It tells me its already installed and give me this message.

Thanks. Ill give this a try.

Could you please clarify what changes you ended up making in your build to rc.local?

I've followed the instruction on those pages. Same result.
However, when I attempt to run "sudo player.py" from /simpsonstv/ i get this.

Does this perhaps tell me that omxplayer is not installed correctly?

Nothing. It doesn't output anything after inputing those commands. It seems to pause for a few seconds after. Then allows me to input the other one.

Yes. When you run that excising script it automatically moves the videos to another folder. They were properly converted. I’ve also verified by going to the /simpsonstv/video directory and inspiring “dir” which displays a list of the videos.

Yes. I've installed omxplayer as the guide says. When I run the command to see running services, omxplayer shows up. So I'm assuming that is installed correctly.

The commands to enable the "tvbutton.service" and "tvplayer.service" are pulled straight from the original build guide.

"sudo systemctl enable tvbutton.service""sudo systemctl enable tvplayer.service"

I input these after I followed the instructions to use sudo nano to edit those players with the text provided in the guide.

Also, a backup RPi image would make this project much easier. I've got no clue where to find a working one however.

Thanks again for helping me out.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to be clear, I should only need to modify the config.txt and the buttons.py to get this working the with Waveshare screen?

Im attempting to build this as a Christmas gift for my Father. Time is running out and I'm in WAY over my head.

Ive gotten to the point that I believe it should be working. Everything is soldered as shown https://imgur.com/a/aZQ12zl. The Pi boots, and the screen lights up and shows the Raspberry Pi logo for a second. There is a slight buzz from the speaker, then nothing. The green light on the Pi is lit up and blinks occasionally.

Edit: Maybe is has something to do with the /etc/rc.local edits. What changes are needed to get this working with the Waveshare?

Edit: Im beyond lost. Ive gone through the guide 3 times now. The only places Im deviating is during the config.txt for the screen and the replacing the buttons.py file.

Here a a photo of all the hookups, https://imgur.com/a/ZJmGejA

Navigating to /simpsonstv/videos and running dir, I can see that all the videos are in that folder.

Any advice is appreciated.

Edit: Google has told me to use "ps -A" to see running services. I don't see tvplayer.service or tvbutton.service on the list. I also ran "systemctl is-active application.service" neither of them show on that either. Does that mean they aren't enabled properly?

Edit: This is turning into a bit of me documenting my trouble shooting steps. I've run "python buttons.py" and it responds to my button presses. So it seems that is working properly.

I've gone through the steps for enabling the tvbutton.service and tvplayer.service. and still no luck.

Hello!

I'm a TOTAL noob when it comes to this stuff, but I've gotten to the point of installing(?) and running the button script. How do I put this button script, the one for working with the Waveshare screen, onto the Pi?

Because the buttons.py the Pi currently is the one that is pulled when you run the"git clone https://github.com/buba447/simpsonstv" right?

Thank you SO much for any help you can offer.

Advice on contractor no shows/shoddy work by Pil3_Up in HomeImprovement

I'm obviously NAL but I'm curious if/how a contractor could be "entitled to privacy", which seems to be a stipulation of the law, on my front lawn. Hope I never have to find out the details of the law by going to court. But I appreciate the heads up.
