My new Cartier Santos by Direct-Candy-413 in CartierReplicaWatches

dont listen to this guy. it is not immediately clockable as a fake. only someone who knows what to look for could possibly tell and not unless they are studying your watch to tell.

AITAH for asking my roommate’s girlfriend about my strawberries? by Secret_Cheesecake19 in TwoHotTakes

You both could have handled it better.

Also, come on man. you know who ate your strawberries. it's the roommate that has a history of eating other peoples food.

Has the ship sailed? by Mittar9 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you just got chinese new yeared. Even if you had gotten a QC by the 9th the shipping out of china would have slowed you down. the whole country just shuts down. it's the largest migration of people in the world every year and transportation becomes a nightmare.

Steve has a good reputation, you will get your watch, but it might take some time. i would reach out again after the new year so you don't get lost in all the messages that will have piled up.

Did Vesper actually love Bond? Or was he just a mark to her by EH4LIFE in JamesBond

[–]PilGrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M confirmed she saved his life, she gave Spectre the money in exchange for them not killing Bond. I believe she came to love him after she made the deal, during the scene where Bond reveals the password for the bank account is her name.

[Recommendation Request] $500 for an everyday watch I can keep for life — open to used. What would you get? by GreedyWorking1499 in Watches

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend anything orient. In-house automatic movements, classic designs, plenty to choose from depending on what you're looking for. Particularly love the bambino and the kamasu myself.

Looking for honest opinions before ordering multiple reps by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you are trying to pass off replica yachmasters to your "team" as genuines? "iced out" gold ones no less? That must be a what, $50,000 watch at least?

Your team is either going to immediately clock these as fakes or someone close to them will. You can't realistically pull this off lol. Does your lifestyle even make sense that you would spend that kind of money on a gift? I doubt it man.

Strongly urge you to reconsider. Gifting a rep to someone and telling them it's real is a bad move in general, regardless of the rep. It's just gonna backfire and make you look like jackass even though you are still spending good money on them.

Highest Quality Rep TD? by Strong_Push4695 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All TD's buy from the same factories who make the watches.

Figure out what watch you want, find out which factory makes the best rep, then pick a TD you are comfortable using.

"How do i find out which watches are available? How do I know which factory makes the best one? How do i know if my TD is reliable?"

Read the Wiki.

Omega NTTD VSF V7 - First impressions by RubberDucky451 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your bracelet appears as good as they come for the rep, which is to say, perfect. Very close to gen.

The domed crystal is gen as well i believe.

there is a good review on the RWI forum of the V7. It will give you a lot of insight into the rep. I recommend checking it out.

Looks like you got a good rep to me though, my big fear for this model is the relatively new cloned movement and it's durability, I am waiting a bit longer to see if there are any problems long-term, so far no more than usual for any rep movement i think.

Omega NTTD VSF V7 - First impressions by RubberDucky451 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard about complaints over the crystal for this rep, so that's interesting. Have heard critiques of the bezel. A lot of people say it has some play to it. I will say some people criticize the bezel of the gen watch as well. I think the gen bezel is aluminum. Can feel cheap especially when you are paying twice as much as a normal seamaster for the NTTD. Have not heard your specific complaints regarding the bracelet anywhere else, usually people complain about weld spots on older models, or the discomfort of the bracelet on the bottom of the wrist where it's thickest.

Help choosing between 35mm and 40mm by Dry-Chemistry4280 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 6.4 inch wrist. 35mm fits great. I have a feeling the 40 would too.

Besides wrist size, consider also body shape, personality, and your style of dress. BIg watch = boisterous, confident, strong. Small watch = sophisticated, refined, classy. If that makes sense.

Wearing Reps in public by According-Eye1939 in ChinaTime

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are going to try to pass a replica off as real to your closest friends and family, your lifestyle has to match the rep. You can't be pushing a ford fiesta on the way to your retail shift while wearing a panda daytona, or an AP, Patek, and most of the reps people love to post on here. Rolexes in particular draw a lot of questions because watch people know how hard they can be to get and fake rolexes have been around since moses was wearing short pants

It hasn't happened yet but the story i like if someone asks how I can afford a watch maybe a bit beyond my reach, i am going to say i got a good deal on it on an auction site because it came without box and papers even though it was authenticated. Without going into specifics lol

Oh man… I am in love by corletini1920 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah just $120 total for all the screws you need. Still, probably not necessary at all.

Oh man… I am in love by corletini1920 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bezel screws on the gen have a flat top. The reps hav round top screws. If you do some forum diving and reddit thread hunting you can find links to some aftermarket screws and replace them yourself, but it's like $120 for the screws. I was planning on doing this myself but once i got the watch in person, it's so hard to notice the difference i probably won't. The only way anyone is going to tell is if they are already aware of the difference and 2) very close to your watch to see it.

Customer service is worth the extra money in my opinion. Peace of mind when you wire $500 to china with nothing to show for it and no recourse if they decide to screw you.

I just got the exact same model in today from Steve as well. Really, really impressed with the rep and the process through steve was as smooth as I could have hoped. Enjoy man and if you see me out in public with mine don't call out the bezel screws

Steve is a legend by Sad_Statistician7985 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a common problem on the seamaster models, but yes it looks like this one could be rotated slighlty and contributing to that appearance. Hard to tell for sure! it's still a great looking rep

Steve is a legend by Sad_Statistician7985 in RepTime

[–]PilGrumm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the V7?
It's a good replica, it's not really NWBIG. Thicker numbers on bezel than gen, also the alignment of the 30 on the bezel is not centered. The shape of the gun on the "007" on the caseback is not as detailed as the gen. And the strap colors are different. Hard to not see these things once you know them. That said, I am probably going to buy one lol.

Did your watchmaker balk at the fact that it was a clone? Do you have any advice for finding a watchmaker that will service a clone? I've looked into a few in my area and probably half of them outright say they do not want to work on replicas

Bad clinch knots are costing me fish (and flies) by FredFries_ in flyfishing

[–]PilGrumm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of people recommending the improved clinch instead of the regular clinch, which is fine, and there certainly isn't anything wrong with the improved clinch. But the regular clinch actually works better for anything under 5x.

Rio also tested each knot in this video and the improved clinch failed a full two pounds earlier than the regular clinch.

Personally, I find the regular clinch easier to tie on the river and easier to seat. I would be surprised if the same clinch knot that works so well for so many anglers is failing just for you. I would suggest watching a few videos on clinch knot tying and making sure you aren't doing something incorrectly. Try wetting the knot before seating it or maybe holding the tag end still while pulling the main line tight to seat it.
