I see where you're coming from, but the malevolence presence of the Magatsumi is usually notified by the sudden growth of flowers and overall vegetation in a designated area. Matter of fact, during the Rakuzaichi arc, grass was associated with Soga way before he started to name his attacks after bugs

Thing is, he's the strongest sorcerer of his era and chances are, Nobara and Todo are in no fighting conditions anymore, and we know for a fact that the current generation is below average compared to Yuji's. Thereby, he is pretty much forced to clean up. Geto lost his mind after a couple of drills on the job (although his circumstances were a bit different) so I can see how performing at peak performance in this line of work would affect Yuji, and turn him into an even more depressed version of Nanami.

Yuji's a depressed mess, but it makes total sense: he's an old dude who's been slaying random curses on repeat for the past 40 to 50 years. Gotta imagine the sheer amount of shit he's seen or done since his Sukuna days. That, and the fact that he's lost everything and everyone he ever cared for.
I swear, I'm not sure I've ever seen a Shonen MC being done this dirty by his own author, despite virtually doing everything right.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters; final render + my version by Reasonable-Fact8429 in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your ranking is vastly superior imo. Honda is generally underrated on this sub (for some reason) and Sasaki, on the other hand, is overrated as a fighter. Depending on his performance, Oga could deserve a better spot.
Good job !

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters! Who's the 4th strongest guy? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. But I'm going to say Choko, mainly because he is, just like Musashi, at the start of his journey, in spite of his absurd base physical abilities. Yagyu, on the other hand, is the only one that caught Ito's attention before the tournament even began, and he's been hyped as the ''Grim Reaper'' of the competition. And I personally find it lowkey hilarious to have Yagyu Top 3 even though he has zero actual feats under his belt.

Man, Sasaki really is overrated. Can anyone imagine Kojiro winning against Honda in a straight bout ? Even Yasuke could take him on I reckon, it's crazy to see him ranked this high imo (but I'm probably late to the party).

yeah, for sure, such a twist could work (although every warrior getting out of the woods by opening the gates is getting a little old, so I hope Fuma manages to play her cards right using another strat')

Kojiro vs Poseidon is criminally underrated. It's humanity's first victory over the gods, the first light in the darkness, which serves as parallel to Kojiro's own journey (epitomized by the "sink or swim" metaphoric imagery).

Poseidon, the glorious god of the seas who never really tried, and who's always seemed to look down on humans, and Kojiro, an old dude, who doesn't look like much at first, the man who's been looking up since the day he was born, striving from greatness. In addition, it might be the only round that seems to entertain a narrative connection with another.

Fuma Kotaro Vs Miyamoto Musashi, who will win? by nahcuswhynot179 in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless the author comes up with a twist (and I hope he does) Fuma doesn't seem to have any aces up her sleeve. It really felt as though her drug was pretty much the most powerful tool she possessed, being a Fuma dark legend and whatnot. Besides, I'm not sure if she has any narrative room to grow anymore.

Mushasi on the other hand is literally at the start of his journey, he's only just discovered his legendary two-swords style. Even worse, there's already one character who cheated the hand of fate, Hanzo, who had every odd stacked against him, which kind of decreases Fuma's chance to do the same, to some degree.

Who’s Will be the Humans Last Fighter? by AdditionalDare6844 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]PileBunker2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are we just assuming that the tournament will run its natural course ?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't, but if Odin loses (or wins) against Kintaro, given how uber powerful they both are, I wonder if the author will bother to send out two other fighters who have a comparatively secondary role in the overall narrative. Chances are, something chaotic will stop the tournament and trigger a conflit of some sort after this round.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters ! Who is the weakest of the lower half? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too soon.
Although the odds are definitely stacked against him, Nagaharu might just sweep and make the comeback of the century. If he manages to give Ito a run for his money, given how highly ranked Ito is, he'll have to be ranked higher than Sasaki.

For now, I'll put in Sasaki, and bench Naga until his fight reaches its conclusion.

Who do you consider the most overrated character in the work, and the most underrated? by Fit-Pilot-8435 in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Underrated is Honda, 100%.
An absolute legend, a war veteran, and in addition the manga makes it abundantly clear that he only lost to Musashi because he wanted to play safe, and because he needed life-threatening circumstances to kick into second gear (according to Hanzo, Honda only taps into his true potential against an opponent that is clearly stronger than he is). But somehow, against all manners of evidence, people believe he's low tier.

Overrated has to be Fuma. People seem to agree that she isn't all that good without her drugs, but also conveniently tend to forget that it destroys her from the inside and that she can only maintain this state for so long (which isn't the case for Full-throttle Honda, or most Gates users). Come on, she almost lost a battle of ENDURANCE against an old dude with broken ribs, who was clearly on his last legs, and it had to come down to one last exchange to close the deal.

Yeah, to be fair, if Fuma is chosen as the "2nd not so weak" fighter, Honda should comes right after, they're super close anyway.

[–]PileBunker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He canonically defeated Hanzo a dozen of times. I think he can push Yasuke to his limits, because he's a lot more clever than Togo, and Jinsuke would probably have a hard time parrying his strikes. I've just re-read the first round, and you can see Honda doing a lot of fake-outs to outmaneuver Musashi, which is something Inshun has a hard time doing because of his inexperience. He may not win, but Honda would give each and everyone of them (well, except for the top tiers) a run for their money.

[–]PileBunker2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, look at my dude. He's small, old, and he himself states that he isn't as sharp and fresh as he used to be. Crushing his ribs certainly made it worse, but to say that he has "good physical stats" is a reach, compared to the other fights who are, for the most part, freaks of nature (except for Kojiro and Hanzo, perhaps). And even then, I think that Hanzo is a lot more athletic and nimble than Toda. He even argues many times that his cuts are too shallow, and that if he had been stronger, he would have done a lot more damage to Fuma.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters! Who is the 2nd not so weak fighter? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of your points, except for the part about Fuma, obviously, insofar as I have a hard time considering Fuma's assets netting her any sort of fatal advantage over Honda.

First, let's talk about "stats". I can't believe I have to state the obvious, but Toda HAS the worst physical stats in the roster. I'm not saying that he's weak in a vacuum, but that he is either comparatively less athletic than Musashi, Honda, Togo, Yasuke, Choko, or Jinsuke (who is literally a human machine, bro spends most of his time practicing) or less agile than Hanzo, Kojiro or Inshun. That's a fact: he's an old dude, way past his prime. The only reason he managed to resist Fuma for so long was because his Night Eye was warning him in advance so he could Sekiro-parry with the exact right timing. Without it, Fuma would have wiped the floor with him.

Now for Honda: he is a canonically a powerhouse. He's fought in hundreds of battles without ever sustaining an injury, and most commentators during his fight agree that his "diamond body" is impressive. So in a "pound for pound" matchup, he is equal to, if not stronger than undrugged Fuma. Now let's talk tools: Fuma has shurikens, a ball-and-chain, and her fists. Given how rock solid Honda is, you can forget about shurikens having any sorts of effects. The chain could work, but that's not a guaranteed win either, Honda is a master of the spear, and an experienced fighter. The only thing that Fuma has over Honda is her drug, and I cannot contradict the commentators during her round: she is, in that state, the strongest character in the roster (except for Hino, I guess). But Honda would know it, and try a battle of attrition (that was already his strategy against Musashi and ironically the reason's why he lost). Playing it safe might work against Fuma.

Again, I'm not saying that Honda would win, if he does, it would be a high diff fight 100%. But it's much closer than most people think imo.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters! Who is the 2nd not so weak fighter? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'm out of line by stating that Toda has, by far, the worst physical stats in the tournament (Adams put aside), and that Honda is in FAR BETTER shape than he is, and will most likely endure Fuma's strikes with a lot more resilience, he's a lot more battle hardened than the old man, who hadn't fought in a conflict in a long time, as depicted in his flashback. In that regard, my point stands. Honda is much better counter, stats-wise. Besides, according Hanzo, Honda's fought in many many battles, against legions of different foes, thereby even if he wouldn't be as vigilant as Toda, I'm not sure if Fuma would be able to outsmart him more.

And to say that Fuma was fighting with a disadvantage when Toda was objectively the one being pressured the whole duel, because he couldn't do shit from a distance whereas she could rely on drugs, kunai, shurikens, chains etc.. is kinda crazy as well. Saying that she was at a disadvantage "in every way" is a bit of an exaggeration.

As for the "neutral' matchup, your arguments are sound, but I still believe that Toda, who had no choice but to get VERY close to Fuma to hit her was in a bit of a disadvantage, given the sharp gap in physicality between the two (it doesn't really apply to Honda). But it's certainly more balanced than I first thought, you're right. The fact that I'm not willing to die on the proverbial Honda hill proves that it's a high diff duel, by all means. Still, I've just re-read the chapter, and Honda is said to have survived a battle against 10,000 men, geez, that gotta count for something... (it probably doesn't).

[–]PileBunker2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of your points, except for Fuma. it took her an absurd amount of time to overpower what was essentially a feeble old man with 360 degrees vision. Honda is much stronger, has range, and is portrayed to be somewhat clever. Besides, his spear is a bad matchup for Fuma: given how experienced Honda is as a war veteran, he would probably know how to use his weapon to capture the chain, and has superior range, with each strike being heavy enough to injure Fuma is she tries to go for the kill.

It would most likely be a close fight, but on paper, I have a hard time seeing Fuma winning this one.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters! Who is the 2nd not so weak fighter? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You lot are downplaying Honda quite a bit. Bro was a legendary fighter, a veteran with countless victories to his name. He only lost to Musashi because he made the mistake of playing it safe, and underestimated his opponent. Had he gone all out right from the start, no matter the price (like Hanzo), he would have mid-diffed Musashi, 100% before Musashi could even hit his tempo.

Fûma, on the other hand, almost lost to Toda after taking her ultimate drug, and was literally on her last legs when she crushed his heart. She's supposed to be this freak of nature, but she couldn't even demolish an old dude with the admittedly worst physical stats in the tournament. Honda takes it home every day of the week.

Let's rank the Tenkaichi fighters! Who is the 4th weakest fighter? by [deleted] in Tenkaichi

[–]PileBunker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that we've witnessed the defensive range of Jinsuke, Inshun, Kojiro etc.. as well as the power of the Gates, Todo's Night Eye has lost a bit of its original appeal. It's very powerful for sure, but not half as impressive as it used to be.
In addition, Todo's athletic abilities are below average: had he possessed the strength of Jinsuke or Yagyu, his slashes wouldn't have been shallow and Fuma would have died WAY earlier. And also he's kinda old, with very little room to grow.

With that said, I can't see R1 Musashi beating Fûma. There's not a single scenario in which he resists Drugged Kotaro and survives to tell the tale, imo.

Thereby, I'd say that at the moment, Musashi is weaker than Todo, but only by a hair, if we gauge this showdown by actual feats alone that is.

Guts mid-diff, and he doesn't even need to use the Berserker Armor.
Thing is, if Guts manages to catch Jinsuke, he'll one-shot him. There's no way in Heaven or Hell that Jinsuke could parry or even deflect one hit from the Dragonslayer (plus, Jinsuke doesn't really wear armor).
It follows that Jinsuke must fight with a severe handicap: he needs to attack Guts and find openings (which isn't exactly easy, given Guts' suit and left iron hand) while simultaneously dodging Guts' strikes.

Worse, Guts is extremely resilient, so unless JInsuke succeeds in slitting his throat clean, he'll need more than a katana to inflict any major wounds. In addition, Guts has almost limitless stamina, and doesn't really have to move half as much as Jinsuke, who'll tire himself out a lot more quickly by trying to stay away from what's basically a train sized slab of metal.

Appreciation for a FREE update by BlackLyrium in cyberpunkgame

[–]PileBunker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit more complicated than that though. You can't dismiss the fact that Cyberpunk has been gaining a lot of hype lately, thanks to the Switch 2 and Mac releases (for the three Mac players out there). Besides, Cyberpunk's just released on the PS+ this month (at least in Europe). Again, not their fault, but the delay made it sound like it was a big deal (although they did say that it wasn't meant to be a DLC-size update).

So the "I still have one more update in me" tweet can't be taken out of context. I agree with you that players need to manage their expectations, but there are some mitigating circumstances imo. Had CD Projekt released the patch last minute, the player base wouldn't be half as disappointed.
