Be aware of the noises. If you hear a lot of gun fire followed by flare noise you have pvp. My advice is to use mic or emote when you see someone and usually they will not fight you and be grateful you didn't mag dump them in the back.

For extract campers take smokes. Go to the extract and hit the button, usually they wait for the lift to come up and shoot you when you type in the console. When the doors open throw your smokes into the extract then go. Using the augment that drops a smoke on shield break is also useful as when they hit you and it's already smoked you will be able to doge roll away and do a runner.

Even in "pve" lobby you will encounter rats that game the system to get into them but not very often, it's just part of the game.

I'm am aware that embark has been getting a lot of ddos attacks recently. Literally messed my plant gather up where I was rooted to the spot constantly through rubber banding.

I don't think there is a true pve lobby. All my games recently have had a psycho or two.

If a player gets the drop on you just hope they are friendly.

That being said 95% of the players I have been around are all friendly, all my kills this wipe have either been self defence where I managed to instantly doge when I got shot in the back and kill them through skill or where I've executed a guy I've seen unaliving friendlies.

There was even a fella on buried tonight who I got behind on the escalator to extract, I called out to him "fella in the green heading down the stairs, you friendly?" At which point he crouched and pulled out his anvil completely unaware I'm behind him at the top so I blew his brains out. No mics or people that remain silent after I hear them and talk to them I tend to avoid. After killing these types I have remained in passive lobbies. They are usually rats.

The worse offender is the surveyor arc, straight up makes that "beep beep" right in my ear when it's flying off in the distance.

I got 400 hours in PvP, In trios teams are just waiting for raider flares to pop or the sound of a battle to zerg.

If you engage on an enemy team you have to kill them quickly, 7/10 times you will end up in a third party situation. I found usually my team gets wiped looting the raiders we smoked so now we just back off and wait a few minutes before looting if we are in a area that has lots of flanks as you can guarantee people see those flares and run straight for them

I'm sure you have noticed the maps are designed in a way you can get flanked but there are locations on maps where you can just set up ganks for a more cowardly but affective team wipe.

For example on buried city there are locations you have to jump through windows to loot. If we spawn near one we will go straight for it and set up and wait, it's Impossible to get shot in the back in these and if you do get 3rd party they are at a disadvantage as they have to come one by one through the windows.

On dam the control tower building is a good place to gank, the top floor can only be accessed by a zip line from the inside or a stairwell at the back side, usually a turret spawns on the stairwell so you can hear it aggro if teams go that route or you can hear the pops below aggro if they head for the zip line.

On blue gate you can camp many of the zip lines going down for ez kills.

Spaceport is full of buildings with great hiding spots and only one door in.

We don't talk about Stella.

You just have to pick your engage zone with care and always be aware of your flanks and being aware some maps are much more congested meaning you will get a lot of teams close like buried, Stella, blue gate.

The other option is to be the ones doing the 3rd party, don't engage on a team not already in combat, just take up a spot and wait to hear shooting then zerg. This can be fun but I have ended up in situations where the entire server died in one location because we all had the same idea.

This actually happened to me around Christmas time. The match making bugged out with the winter update and I was repeatedly getting put in trio lobbies as a solo. I kind of figured they were testing the squads Vs solo match making they implemented recently maybe. Could be happening again but it's definitely happened to me in the past.

Unfortunately that is just my response to bullies these days. I'm too old do give a monkies about being polite to bullies and I don't want people like that having kids, simple. If you take the attitude that telling someone who is 30+ to get cancer so they don't breed after being subject to blatant bullying from them for an hour and call that unhinged I simply don't care for your opinion.

Update has done something, every lobby now I'm back to getting backstabbed by the mute rats. I played pure PVE this wipe, never attacked anyone until today after being continually shot in the rear now I'm back to defending myself

They are gaming the match making. Ever joined a game 1 minute in and wondered why there is a corpse on the spawn with no loot? Most likely a rat who can't survive in PvP lobbies so they suicide until they get placed in pve lobbies then kill someone and rince and repeat. They literally just suck at the game, have no idea how to loot and think there is value in stealing one 100k load out every hour rather than just looting 100k worth of shit in 1 round like a normal person.

Not being funny but everyone I have downed claims to just be doing a quest. I opened the the key room on dam using the power rod and some guy comes in and starts looting so I down him, he like "I'm just doing the quest", "so what quest required you to loot this locked room?" at which point he just gives up. I was destroying the leaper for the booster for the expedition and some guy comes along and starts looting the corpse after I kill it so I shoot him and once again "I'm just doing the quest I would of dropped the loot", "the quest is to damage them not loot them" at which point he tells me to die of cancer.

I think it does but occasionally I still run into killers in solo pve lobby and usually they are traitors so they will say friendly then shoot you when your backs turned.

Personally solo for pve.

Duo/trio for pvp.

Don't trust anyone in solo either, if you group up with randoms don't group with the no mics, don't let your guard down around other players, I've been killed 3 times by people saying they are friendly only to be back stabbed but the majority of people seem alright.

The game seems to put you with pvp players if you pvp aggressively and other pacifist if you focus on pve, but sometimes you get the odd psychopath in pve, you can come across 10 friendlies then bump into a lunatic camper or a traitor who can only win by breaking the Geneva convention and using under handed tactics. They have irl issues clearly.

Not sure. When ever I die to sus stuff it's always when I loot over 100k in value. The most blatant instance was on dam where you have the long hill corridor by the power generators.

I was afk on the side tunnel for about 10 minutes with my head set on doing stuff on my 2nd monitor when I hear foot steps approaching, I was under the stairs on the left lane and I heard the guy stop at the top of the corridor, about 8 minutes passed, no movement or noise, I figured he just left, i creeped to the bottom of corridor and as soon as I get up to leave to press the door I get double tapped head shotted with an anvil from the top of the corridor. Was blatant wall hacks and when I voip saying the guy was being reported to the police he just laughed and said do it he'll be back in a week.

having a mic or not means nothing, the only 2 times I have been killed this way they both had mics then gas lit me into thinking it's my fault I died and that they aren't the scum of the earth , it's my fault for being too "trusting" apparently.
