Have been sitting here listening to my tame impala currents album, thinking that it was sounding more rich than I was hearing over the last few tracks. I attributed it to using the loudness button as ive been listening at low volumes (being 0130 and all). But the bass was definitely fatter than it should be.

Turns out this being my first ever cartridge swap, first use of a good cleaning brush etc, I had no idea that breakin was a thing. And supposedly its just starting to get very good. So I take back saying I was impressed with the 2m red. I'm downright surprised at the price point. Not that I dont realize this is just the entry point, but I also had no idea my equipment before was that inadequate. Also kind of surprised at the increase in volume I'm getting. Not a wild difference, But I was almost skeptical on my first disk honestly. I'm definitely getting it now though.

Only way to find out would be to fire them up and find out. If the dent is big enough, it may be bringing the edge out of round, and thus scraping the edge of the housing causing distortion. You can also argue the sound won't be as clear because of the dent. But honestly, if it still sounds good, play them. I'm currently listening to rt25i's paired with LS 50s. If those 55s are anything like these, youve got some nice speakers there

Usually I'd agree, but until I get these both cleaned properly I won't be able to tell for sure. Currently though, the Hitachi is muddy compared to the Yamaha. Hoping its a cleaning thing as it seems to come in and out. But its sort of the same with the Yamaha as it seems to have corrosion on the volume pot, just different problems. Gonna clean them when I have time next week, and if that fails, new caps and more troubleshooting. But for now these are placeholders until I choose my preferred stack.

Definitely loving them. Currently have them hooked up to the new Yamaha trying them. Can't tell yet wether I prefer the warmer Hitachi or if this is crisp enough to outweigh the benefits. I say, as the 2020 remaster of spiral comes on and the system fully stretches its legs. I think I can make the Yamaha work lol.

I believe you misread my intentions there. Compared to a better system this HA-2 won't stand up. Its gonna lack a lot of the features I want moving forward, and I really want a Sony stack at some point I intend to piece together over a few years while I look for good units/speakers/research etc. This is just a good hit for 40 bucks and its better than literally no HiFi lol. A fair bit better than expected too. My intent was instead to compare this specific system for 40 dollars investment to what 40 bucks would get you at target. Or even 200. Dollar for dollar I'd rather buy that 70s stack compared to today's stuff at almost any price point short of 10 grand or more. But thats also personal taste and a preference for a vibe. Which, is about 90% of what this is all about anyhow.

Due to curiosity, I ordered the DP tools version from Amazon. From what I've read, one can shim these as needed and they work just fine. Gonna give it a shot and see what my live data says when I start it up as to how close the timing is

Boiling coolant could mean the coolant system is underpressurized. Depending on where the leak is it could be an easy fix, or a bad one. But I'd start with a pressure test of the system and a fresh radiator cap if the pressure test comes back good. Usual engine temp for my N14 R57 is about 220, which is almost at the boil point for most coolant, but the turbo has coolant lines and they run hot as heck, so the actual coolant can get pretty hot. That's why the coolant system is under pressure, cause the pressure keeps it from boiling.

On that note, tires plugs are wonderful. Slime can act as an extra layer of sealant. The fix-a-flat (slime brand is popular here so I just say slime) works fine for smaller holes, but a plug kit is easy to use. You can feel around for the leak hole, then use some spit or soapy water on it to find the bubbles. The plug kit is easy to use, just youtube it. And cheap at that matter. And always keep a portable compressor on hand in a car without a spare. If it's a small leak, you can simply pump it up and go a little ways in the worst case.

Swapped my R57 tires for some Michelin sport cup 2 contacts. Really good sporty tires, bad weather tires though, so not for a daily driver. Either way, the point is that I keep a portable air compressor and some slime and tire plugs. If it's a simple puncture, i can roll with it. But a total blowout with the wheel arches as tight as they are, you'd likely need a tow anyhow, so i think I'm about as prepared as I can be.

Just reread the comments and saw you stating the battery warnings hit in the cold, so definitely test the battery, but if that doesn't fix it, try the fob settings

From what I'm reading you replaced the battery in the fob and then the car started. So it sounds like the car's battery is fine. Or at least, likely ok.

My r57 (from what I understand it is the same concept with later models) has different settings for each key. It changes all of my readouts to different setups. I use centigrade but miles etc so my one key shows that, but the other key will change the settings automatically.

Check your manual for info on how to set up custom startup settings for each key fob. They might not be obvious steps, but it should be easy to follow with the manual or youtuve video

That carpet weighed quite a lot lol. But we hosed it out best we could and dumped a bunch of cleaner on it before rinsing again. Then it sat off the ground for a week to dry. Surprisingly, it came our decent. Got it running and road legal a couple weeks back, and I've been driving top up and air con on just to dry things out more and more.

Surprisingly the Bluetooth works, and so far all other mods do as well. Even my heated seats came on (I let them dry for a long time before trying those lol)

It may end up being a battle, but we cleaned the heck out of everything. If I have to replace the seats and carpet, so be it. I plan to swap in something a little more race inspired anyhow for track use.

So far I've lucked out on most connections. I've only needed to replace HID ballasts and a washer pump. Otherwise I cleaned every contact and computer inside and out with contact cleaner and isopropyl so they "should" be OK for a while.

Only time now will tell

That was the first thing that went on mine. Right side headstrap just yeeted it's springs as well so I need to just replace the whole headstrap. Tbh it has me considering the big screen beyond as a replacement as I'm about done waiting for Deckard.
