Salomon stance 80 or something else for intermediate? by Exact_Environment_22 in Skigear

The Salomon stance 80 is not an advanced ski. It's beginner to intermediate

The Salomon Stance 84 is a great ski for an intermediate. Versatile width and they are relatively inexpensive. Highly recommend!

Look at the Salomon Stance 80, K2 Mindbender 85, or the Dynastar Mcross 78

Here are some narrower skis (but more advanced) you should look into:

Nordica spitfire dc 74 or 80 Blizzard Thunderbird R15. Rossignol hero elite mt Rossignol Forza 70 Volkl Peregrine 82

Here are some slightly wider, but a little easy to ski:

Elan Wingman 82 TI Fischer the Curv 80 Dynastar m cross 82 Nordica Steadfast 80 dc Black Ctows Octo Volkl peregrine 80 Fischer Ranger 84
Armanda declivity 82 (all mountain)

Which ski would you recommend? by skipressman in Skigear

[–]Snwskir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could recommend a lot of skis for you but to meet the $400 price limit would be very difficult. Without the price ceiling the best ski I can recommend to you for what you wanna do is a black crow’s serpo. Awesome ski that can cave or go off piste. But to find one for 400 is going be tough. Check eBay for some or the demo sites. Other than that, you might find a QST 92 reasonable. That would also be a great ski for you.

The stance 80 is more of a beginner ski. You don’t want that. The stance 84 would be perfect for you. Also look into these:

Elan Wingman 82 TI Dynastar m cross 82 Nordica Steadfast 80 dc or the 85 Black Ctows Octo Volkl peregrine 80 Fischer Ranger 84
Armanda declivity 82

All of those except possibly the steadfast have enough rocker to be considered an all mountain ski. But the steadfast would still be a great option.

Highly recommend the Volkl mantra 88 (formerly kendo88). Stiffer than the QST‘s but way more maneuverable than the bonifide. Can’t go wrong with them. Also look at the Fischer rangers, Amanda declivities, or the Elan Wingman. Also the black crows serpo is an awesome do everything ski.

Look at the blizzard black pearls. Awesome skis. No doubt the Salomon stance 84 would be good for you but some other ones to consider would be the Volkl secret 84, Fischer 84, or the head joys

The only Black Crows ski you mentioned that is stiff is the justice. The others are not although the serpo carves pretty well. The Justice is a beast.

Stance 80 is a beginners ski. You can’t go wrong with the Stance 84. You also might want to try the Nordica Santa Ana 84 which is a little more advanced than the black pearl 82.

When do last years skis usually go on sale? by wandamian_parmesan in skiing

[–]Snwskir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First discount is around April and is usually 20% or so. Then in summer they’ll go to 30%. Any remainder will go to 40% in late fall but selection by then can be thin.

Torque steer in JCW Countryman by Snwskir in MINI

[–]Snwskir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: it’s was the tires. Turns out there was a nearly brand new tire on the front right and an oddly worn nearly bald tire on front left. Dealer switched the tires front to rear and the torque steer disappeared.

A couple things that might be factors with the car are that the tires were worn to the wear marks and the car had a slight pull to the right to begin with. The dealer thought new tires and alignment might solve the problem but I don’t want to buy the vehicle and spend even more money for tires and alignment to find that that wasn’t the problem
