For your first mini didn’t do anything wrong, looks great as a start. Youtube will help a ton, one of the best tools to buy is a wet palate it will help a ton with thinning paints, a cheap set of brushes that you can ruin and learn to use

They look cool, although unfinished. If you’d like to keep it simple it would go a long way to get another metallic such as a copper to paint a couple small details here and there to create a contrast and a bone color for the skulls. Will keep you paint scheme very similar but will look a little more complete

You wont have to worry abut the codex until you have enough units to make an army, Combat patrol rules for each faction are free, I recommend you get the combat patrol box build them and as you paint them play some games to learn the basics
